chavvy? but illuminated!
« on: 13, August, 2010, 08:34:14 AM »
one of my neighbours' mate has a little aprilia 50cc bike.  A while ago, he'd attached speakers to it and blasted out music, i had to have a word, as it was usually after 7pm when he'd visit with his music blaring and revving the engine - whilst our baby was trying to sleep... anyways, tat was sorted out very amicably and i also suggested not revving the tits of it after starting, as its 2 stroke and the alloy pistons would expand faster than the sleeves etc, and he took that on board.

last night, as i was driving out of the estate, twist road, lots of cars parked on edges, night time, and i saw this heavily illuminated thing coming round the corner... i saw it in the visual gap between some parked cars, so i knew it was coming round the corner and was able to pull over to let it round. It was matey boy and his new 'under bike' neon lighting! my first thought was 'omg that is sooo chavvy!'

i did my stuff, and returned home and matey and neighbour were outside chatting. i said hello and said i thought the lights were cool. i didnt think that, but it keeps the kids happy.

But, and heres my point, without them, i probably wouldnt have seen him coming round that corner.  So, chavvy? maybe.  But also quite possibly life saving! Not on this occassion, as i was driving carefully through the estate, but another time, on another road, who knows, they may just make the difference between being seen and not being seen.  Therefore i wont berate them!

I'm not sure i'd get through to him if i gave him a lecture on safety clothing though!

Definately wouldn't illuminate the underside of my bike. It would show up all the dirt.

Illuminated chavvy scooter - uncool

Illuminated Honda Goldwing - compulsory

Comments please....

As you say - might not be cool but if it saves his life or someone else's then certainly useful.

I suspect you're right about the clothing lecture though - unless you can manage to point out how "cool" armoured leathers look! :) :)

Well the more lights, the better, as long as they don't dazzle anyone.

What I hate though are the blue lights in the headlights, and headlights that have a bluey tinge.

If you fit the lights to the under side, surely they will only dazzel if you wheelie?

It's the flashing blue lights on the roof and in the grill I hate.
