Nearly had a classic Friday 13th crash in the west end today, on my scooter. Nipped up onto the kerb to get round an unloading truck which was blocking the whole road, spotted a policeman so hopped off the bike (whilst still rolling forward) to push instead of riding on the pavement. I got the flap of my waterproofs caught on the switchgear  so was wobbling on 1 leg with the other attached to the handlebars, in attempting not to fall over I accidentally gave it some throttle and headed straight for 2 little old ladies having lunch at a table outside a cafe. How I didn't end up in their laps I'll never know. Hilarious.

A few years ago, I was coming to a road junction I got my waterproofs caught on the Triumph's kickstart. Me and Triumph hit the floor.
I was parking my Firestorm on the pavement at work. Came to a stop and put my foot where the ground should be. A 3in curb meant me and Honda hit the floor.
I left my disc lock on in a carpark at Warwick University. Went to drive off, me and my Honda hit the floor.
Much more recently, parked in Rugby Town centre, Saturday afternoon. I left my lock on the disc again. As I rode off, me and Triumph hit the floor.

Not a 13th in sight! We live and learn. Well we live!

Knobbers all, feel we need to start a knobbers section.
Not happy,
Not impressed,
Not as knobby as you.
Funny? You are a riding disaster.
Oh I once mowed down a bus queue!
Wildcat, take a step back and assess your  abilities and attitude.
It`s folks like you that give "scooters" and the rest of us a bad name.
Your attitude sucks.
Now I`m no expert but should you intend to ride again, I`d defer that moment till you`d done at least one scooter safe course. >:(
Pavements are the natural abode of old ladies, children, prams, wheelchairs not fecking scooters on a mission to detroy the credulity of the motorcycling community.
If you need help with your attitude and or training, We can help, send us a polite message and we may be able to help ammend the errors of your ways.

get a life!  everyone makes the odd 'error of judgement', anyone who says they havent, is a liar...
Fortunately, most errors of judgement we get away with, and learn from it...

although perhaps George should forget disk locks! :D

Deliberately riding a scooter on to a pavement is not an error of judgement.

Boasting about it and finding it funny may be in some people's book

nope, id say its a skill, given those silly wee wheels they have, but given the extensive length of time Wildcat has been riding and the range of bikes she has owned over the years I'm surprised she admits to the scooter, bad girl.. what ever happened to the C90

LOL.. riding in London is often chaos... I went round a corner once and ended up with a bag of chips in me lap.

I went on one of the EnduroIndia trips.

India High Commission offered something like the following advice:

'adherance to the highway code can result in loss of life.'

That can also apply to driving in London, though I agree that we are sometimes our own worst enemy. I do worry sometimes when I watch some of my fellow riders filtering through the traffic.

When I'm in front I usually move out of the way.

 ;D

My handle bars are too wide to follow them between the really close cars, vans, lorries and buses, and my wheelbase is too long to turn on a sixpence to cut across the lane.

Those little scooters without panels look fantastic though. Now if I had one of those.........

You'll be pleased to know that my days of disc locking are over.

Errors occur but avoiding a truck by riding up a pavement do not figure on my not I suspect your list of faux pas. When my rare errorrs occur on gravel or corners with a tightening apex, I keep it to myself and learn the errors of my ways. The last thing I`d do is post about an excursion up a pavement!

Then there are those who though not boring strive for and almost achieve perfection. Laregely because they ride in all weathers to the best of there abilities and avoid pavements.

Dont post back cause we will not deign to reply. Endangering old ladies and avoiding an officer of the law is neither "hilarious" nor big, clever or acceptable. You should be ashamed of your actions and as a respectable website TLB should censure your actions rather than condoning the effete responses posted thus far.
We are outraged at the lack of support we have received to our original post and will from this post forth assume the De Facto position of TLB terrorist posters.

"We"??
Do you have a multiple personality disorder?

I don't particularly feel the need to justify my actions to you, however, I'm a lifetime biker, not a Sunday afternoon dry weather hobbyist, I ride every day, no matter what the weather, and will do so as long as I can physically get on the bike and see where I'm going. I've never had a serious accident. During close on 30 years of DAILY riding I've been a road-racer, a motocross instructor, a Ducati mechanic, and for a while the holder of the record for the highest motorcycle ascent of Mount Everest, so I very much doubt there's much you can tell me about motorcycles and the riding of them. Nipping up the kerb after being stuck behind a truck breathing diesel fumes for 10 minutes is hardly a hanging offence.

TLBer's, like me who have met and had the pleasure of riding with Wildcat saw the slap stick humor in her post.  We all do silly things, well I certainly do and sometimes you do something that you probably shouldn't and a whole chain reaction of things unfolds.  These are the stories that we tell donwn the pub or at the cafe... 'I can't believe I did it, then this happened, but I got away with it unscathed'.  The terrorist posters just know Wildcat a whole lot better than you do and the apparent lack of support for you is just a case of can't really be bothered to get involved.

From my part, I think you were a little over the top in your response, I kind of groaned inside when I read your response as it just smacked of judging a book by its cover.  TLB tends to censor its self, we speak freely amoungst friends and this same honor is extended to you.  If we were all in a pub and Wildcat told her story and you responded in the way that you did, you have to expect that Wildcat will respond for herself, some people will tell you to get a life and others will just walk away as they can't be arsed.  Differences of opinion happen, TLB is a family of different experinces and opionion.  I've strongly disagreed with stuff in the past and my advice is either  grow a thicker skin respond and take what comes back, just walk away from the offending reading material. Yes there will be differences of opinion, you clearly didn't agree but really, is it such a big deal?  I don't have to like or agree with your response but as a friend of TLB I don't want you to feel upset, offended, outraged or unsupported.

I also have had a similar experience to Wildcat and seen how a simple action spirals out of control..... I'd been riding a pink scooter, in flop flops, with one plastic horse riding cap between the two of us.  I thought that it would be a laugh to let my friend ride while I sat on the back.  I stood in front of the bike whilst teaching her the controls, she pulled the throttle, tried to stand up, I went over the top of the bike trying to hold it in place whilst shouting at her to let go of the handle bars and we shot a stream of sand into a bar where everone was eating lunch.  Yeah it was stupid, but it happened and really its no big deal.  Just pegged it up to experience.
