Nope, not a motorsickle! Times are tough at the mo and having to tighten the purse strings - a lot! No longer working in Canary Wharf, i'm having to commute into zone 1 at peak times now, so travel costs have gone up more than 3x
So after much ebay/internet surfing looking for a bicycle, i decided to get a cheapo (!) new bike from Decathlon... 270 notes lighter, and i'm saving a whole £2 (my guestimated figure for driving 12 miles round trip)a day cycling 6 miles to Epping station. Every little helps!
I had a quick 4.5 mile test ride yesterday, found it hard going, but was able to determine that the seat height was way wrong, then this morning my first cycle to the station, with some nasty hills. 35 minutes, which included a 2 minute stop to adjust the seat height again, and a couple of minutes stop at petrol station to buy ciggys. The stops brought my average speed down to 10.1mph, and i posted a top speed of 25.2mph.
Drive to station: 30 mins15 minutes drive
5 minutes parking
10 minutes walk to station
Cycle to station: 35 mins30 minutes cycle
5 minutes unnecessary pit stops
+2 minutes locking up
381kcals burnt
Pretty close. Aiming to get the cycling part down to 25 minutes...
