2011 London Marathon...
« on: 10, September, 2010, 10:46:50 AM »
Anyone who is on my Facebook/Twitter, would have seen random postings saying 'Darren has been out cycling...' etc, well i been in training/saving money on expensive train fares!

I have my entry to the Marathon confirmed, i will be running on behalf of the Outward Bound Trust, http://www.theoutwardboundtrust.org.uk

Donations and sponsorship can be made online HERE: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/darrencurzon

you can follow my training on Twitter @darrencurzon or on Facebook

plan for the final day:
i'm planning on having satnav tracking to follow me live as i run, and provide a live map so everyone sitting at home can see my progress on a map! Not only will you be able to see where i am, but you will also be able to type words of encouragement and/or abuse to me, which will come to me thru headphones.

anyone know how to hugely extend the battery life on an iphone? gps and 3g will be running...

All the best with the training. I ran the Coventry Marathon in 1985. Completely knackered me, but was a great thing to do.

Using the gps to track your progress is a great idea. What is the current battery life? To get the most out of your battery, run faster.
I might be slow, but I'm behind you!

Nice one Darren - will definitely sponsor you but of course to encourage you - will pledge something per mile so you have to do more to get it!   ;D ;D

Been terribly ill the past few days, courtesy of food poisoning... Still, dropped half a stone to bring my bmi to the supposed correct level! Bmi... What a stoopid way of measuring someone, does not take into account muscle weight... Hope most doctors can see past the stoopid thing!

Anyway, i digress...

Only 216 days to go!

Penny- per mile is cool, thankyou x
I WILL complete all 26.2 miles tho, even if its on my little knobbly knees! Might even cycle home after! Nah, forget the cycle home... :-)

George, i think battery life with gps and 3g running would be about 3hours?

Wow good for you Daz, a marathon is still on my list of dreams to do.  As for the gps I think that garmin does downloadable maps but that is not in real time.... one for the techies i think.
People will forget what you have said and they will forget what you have done--but they will never forget the way you made them feel.
