The above ip address tried to access this forum by logging on as a known user but didnt know we had changed the password, the ip belongs to VirginMedia and an abuse report has been sent.

If they are on Virgin Media, then they are on a static IP, and as such it doesnt change, and is effectively "allocated" to them.
Nice easy trace for Bransons Mob methinks ;)

My experience when I was on Virgin was that my IP was shared with loads of other users so it isn't that simple.

Apparently Virgin do give static IP to broadband customers, but anyone using dial in gets to share IP.
