RIDE REPORT:
Well we set off from the Ace as planned, 5 bikes, cracking pace on the A40, then through Amersham & Chesham to Berkhampstead. Mist, drizzle & slippy roads slowed our pace, joined the A4146 at Dagnell and surfaces dried on the way to Leighton Buzzard.
The B4032 to Winslow was, despite the loose grit, a dream. The 413 to Buckingham was sublime as ever. The 421 and B4031 followed by the A361 were a blast.
Our arrival at Ma Larkins was disappointing to say the least as it has completely closed down. In search of lunch we proceeded to the Fox Inn on the marketplace in Chipping Norton. We had a fine roast Sunday lunch (£7.95 a bargain, it was truly delicious and is to be recommended).
Unfortunately a Nora Batty type managed to leave a parking space a grand vitesse, knocking over our bike and shoving it 15' down the road before stopping, causing £3300.00 worth of damage and necessitating a return to London by courtesy of the Cotsowold Recovery Service, provided by the RAC.
Our companions (of whom one is a policeman) were on hand to hear the confession and apologies by Nora and her husband. They waited with us while formalities were completed and blasted off back to London with a scream of tyres which left us distraught and wishing we were with them.
We hope to re-run this cracking ride as the best was supposed to be yet to come, after the lunch stop, in the not too far distant future.
If anyone knows of a low-mileage Triumph Daytona in black for sale we would be very interested .
Otherwise we may have to buy a ZZR1400 and it will be curtains for us and anyone who dares to follow
