Come on people, this is a good run, if you never joined in one of the xmas you missed out, dont miss this one, come join us at the Ace leaving 10.30am

USR’s

This year’s Ace Toy run is to go ahead after all!

Officers of the British Transport Police (BTP) have stepped in to help at this year’s run after the BikeSafe team were told by senior officers within Scotland Yard that they must not get involved.
There will be a maximal  of only 4 BTP officers available so it is up to the USR’s to take up the slack.

The Run leaves the Ace at 10.30 this Sunday, 13th December, so it would be best if everyone got there before 9.30.

I cannot stress enough how important it is for as many USR’s as possible to help out and to prove to these officers that we are capable of assisting at these events. The future of motorcycle charity events in the capital might depend on it.

Steve Marsh

Please let me know if you are able to help, apologies for short notice, but we have a glimmer of hope that we can continue.
Kind Regards
Christine

OMD asked me to clarify the following about holding a junction... - DONT

Subject: RE: Ace Toy Run 2009: USR's required urgently
Date: Wed, 9 Dec 2009 11:54:33 +0000

Hi Christine

REF: Ace Toy Run Sunday

Firstly my apologies for not being able to be there on the 13th, with a little more notice I may have been able to reschedule work commitments,

The main area of concern is that unless there is in place a specific traffic management order from the police working with local authority approved road closures, NO ONE (police included, unless emergency) has the power to stop or hold traffic at junctions, So best practice would be marking junctions only.

You have to remember we are all volunteers who give up our time freely and I would not want to see any one being put in the position of being prosecuted for a Traffic offence, whilst helping out for a good cause.

Can you make sure this is distributed to all USR who are going to attend on Sunday please, thank you for all your hard work team, see you in 2010

Are you sure it is 10.30 departure? The Ace website says 11am so the masses are likely to turn up then.

What's a USR then?

I'll be at the run, as haven't missed it for a decade.

Christine - see you there as always!

I had already decided that due to only having 4 BTP we would be using the drop off system, however Stem has phoned tonight, no BTP., as they have been called off due to a protest taking place on the same day in another part of London which takes priority.
Will be contacting all USR's to let them know, but no propblem, as we have used this for Fred Hill ride to Pentonville in the past and practised during a training day this Summer
Be good to see you on Sunday Slim, better get in the mince pies!
So come on The London Bikers, support this very worthwhile ride and bring lot's of pressies for the children.

Well, it all went ahead and was fantastic, good turn out, no problems, apart from the banners for the pressie van being left behind and a couple of minor bike breakdowns.
Go to the Unity site if you'd like to see full report and I will post up a few photo's later.
There was free tea's and coffee's back at the Ace for all taking part....result! 8)
