...to your attention.

USRs please note - they're looking for volunteers to marshall it.

Update:

"Sunday 14th March 2010

The ride will be starting at Leigh Delamere Service Station J17 (eastbound) of the M4. Please start arriving from 10:30am.

Each rider will pay £5 and receive an Afghan Heroes wristband, which will be their entry pass to RAF Lyneham. The lead riders will be leaving at 12 noon promptly. The route will be along the M4 to J16 before heading along the A-Roads towards Wootton Bassett. We will be riding through at a slow speed before continuing along to RAF Lyneham. We are honored that they are opening their gates for us and refreshments will be available.

All those attending RAF Lyneham will require to pre register giving Name, Address, DOB and Bike Registration. This is to enable security clearance to be carried out by the RAF. REGISTRATION CLOSES MONDAY 15TH FEBRUARY 2010. Anyone who does not register WILL NOT be allowed onto RAF Lyneham.

Registration will be through a secure site, this will be posted out on Monday.

We will be riding to RAF Lyneham where there will be a presentation to hand over the funds raised for the Afghan Heroes Charity, set up last September by a group of mothers who lost their sons in Afghanistan.

IF YOU KNOW OF ANY BIKERS WHO WISH TO ATTEND THE RIDE WHO HAVEN’T REGISTERED ON FACEBOOK CAN YOU ENSURE THAT THEY REGISTER ON THE SECURE SITE.

Hello Stem

I just signed up, there's 3800 bikes signed up (more than 5000 riders with pillions) that's gonna take some marshalling!

Ok there are some 'organisational difficulties' but the ride will go ahead (It's gonna be difficult to stop it). You therefore will hear a lot of misinformation  over the next few weeks but a start and end point has been sourced and they are going to need our support and all the help we can give them.

Current estimates are about 10K bikers attending. sounds like it might be a bit of laugh.

found a poster at BoxHill yesterday talking about a rally point on the M4..

Leigh Delamere services @J17 on M4 after 10.30hrs, leaving 12.00hrs, would suggest both the boxhill and ace elements meetup at some early point after joining the M4 from M25, thoughts...

cheers

I have done New Malden to Reading and back loads of times weekdays and weekends and I would recommend M3/A322/A329 to pick up M4 at Reading as generally quicker (and a better ride) than the M25/M4 if travelling from SW London.

As for meeting at the services - there is barely room for 4000 there assuming no one else needs to stop for petrol or a pee! Then there is the problem of getting thousands of bikes safely onto the motorway.

I suspect the organisers will find one of the other nearby airfields or similar to meet up at and we will hear in due course.

Leigh Delaware is not going to be big enough so much bigger areas and facilities are being sourced nearby. I you hear any 'plans' ignore them for now because things are changing all the time.

Christine will contact all the USR's directly and also start something on the Unity forum.

I agree, but is it working? Unity Forum is invisible from work. Yesterday the Unity Forum (which was up on Friday) reported "Database Error".

For all those riders heading for Wooton Basset tomorrow.....

Ride safe and ride proud.
