Ride to Wales and Back, Sunday the 19th July
« on: 22, June, 2009, 09:18:09 PM »
So maybe I should make an effort to be part of the forum I claim to belong too so here goes. Im planning on riding out to Wales and hitting some nice roads for old times sake. This will be a moderately quick ride out but no lunatics allowed.

The plan is to meet for breakfast at the Ace at 7am then hit the road for 7.30am sharp. Pick up the A roads through Bucks and head west until we hit Builth. Around 400 miles in the saddle with a nice Lunch thrown in to sweeten the deal.

This is proper old school ride out so be prepared to rack some miles up, no USR bibs allowed (lets be honest who wants to attract attention and be told how to ride by badge collectors at the end of it) but that does not mean no USR riders are excluded, if you want to come then leave the bib at home and come on a TLB ride out.

Thats more like it Rich... a post about riding bikes lol...

Sounds like gonna be a cracking ride, but, for me personally, with the back probs, I really know I wouldn't be able to last that mileage in the saddle :( Bloody hell!!!!

I just hope that the true riders on here will get their names down and do what real bikers do best - RIDE THEIR BIKES!!!!

Good luck my old buddy & thanks for sinking me into the blackness of depression by not be able to join you on what promises to be a fab day lol...

Bums, will be on the Isle of Wight looking at horses all day, did a similar ride with DM and Eddyclutchburner a couple of years ago to Aberystwyth, meeting at Oxford services, it was huge fun :D
So sadly, this USR, Senior Observer IAM, Rospa Gold and Vice Chairman KAMG but before all that a founder member of TLB will have to miss out on a lot of fun :'(

Christine to just to confirm, no one has an issue with you as a USR rider or any of the TLB regular members, its your patronising pupils that are the problem and a discouragement for normal people who just want to ride.

After speaking to people it would seem that 400 miles is a long way for people so the plan is to ride as long as we want heading West and when we hit a nice lunch spot we turn round.

Burger,

Seen you post a few rides up and would be honoured to come along, I'm told that you pick some great routes and a good speed  :)
Regretfully  i ran my baby into the ground doing Assen and im just getting the pennies together to fix her up, once i'm happy she can handle some abuse i would love to come along.

C U soon.

Im thinking we should meet at Ace 6am!  Last time i did this trip i was up at 4.30 and in Oxford by 6am ask Grandma! ;-)  550 miles head towards the coast and turn round.  There are some awesome roads which il check out later and post roughly the route we did last time.

It was brilliant, lovely empty roads, amazing what you can do in a day, really enjoyed it, but really can't get out of going to the Isle of Wight as it is a big show, so can't let them down, so will have to miss this one :'(

Well before I pulled out the proposed route was,

Leave the Ace head down the A40 until Denham and pick up the a413 to Buckingham, Over to Banbury, Chipping Norton, Tewksbury, through the downs, Leo Minster and into Wales. The have lunch, play around Newtown and Knighton then head back through Worcester Evesham and Oxford picking up the old Thame road and back through Wycombe to the Ace.
