WORLD RECORD
“SADDLESORE” ATTEMPT
The Iron Butt Association is dedicated to safe, long-distance, endurance motorcycle riding. Although based in the United States, they have over 24,000+ members world-wide. The Iron Butt Association (IBA) does not have membership in the traditional sense. The IBA is a little more loose knit organization than most clubs. Generally speaking there are several ways to earn membership. One of the most common methods of entry into the IBA is to complete one of the rides they sponsor, such as the “Saddlesore 1000” (1000 miles in less than 24 hours).
The Royal British Legion
The idea is to raise money for the poppy appeal; raise awareness of the RBLR and the IBA and, of course, set a new world record.
They need about 200 bikes who are happy to trundle around the UK and are happy to seek sponsorship for their feat of daring do, and as long as 80% complete the ride, the record will be broken.

Time for a TLB rideout, Eezyrida you MUST be up for this one, sandwiches and inflight refuelling from a big Bandit would make this a breeze.

'> Jetstream, I won't make any decisions on this until much nearer the time. If I do then there will be sandwiches and Jaffa Cakes in plentiful supply. Not sure about the inflight fuelling though. Might have to drum up "credit-crunch"-crunching sponsorship to pay for that

Would be doable, ride up on Friday, wouldn't take long up the A1 which is not too bad for bikes, better than a motorway.
Do the ride Saturday and Sunday, recover.....! then ride home Monday.
Not unlike the National Rallies in some ways, the Scottish one you just keep fuel tickets which prove where you were at a given time, though slightly more difficult as you had to use predetermined fuel stations, whereas this one you can use what you like.
BUT........., there is always a but, it is the same weekend as Bikesafe at Hendon.

If those who do the run promise to advertise (almost to the extent of spamming) the Bikesafe w/e, will we be allowed to bunk off on this sore-arse event?
