I think he will have a rough 6-9months but after that he will have his feet well in place and sort out a lot of the problems the US has. One place to start could be the setting up of a health service that helps all and not just the one with the correct insurance card.
I get the feeling sometimes that the US is like the school bully on drugs whom if he does not get his own way will chuck his toys around, or in their case all the billions of bombs they have, until he does get his way. What I hope from this guy is a more in-ward looking term in office and STOP trying to pass around the US view on things. The US does not need to save the world, hell, it can't even save it's own people from living on the streets in massive numbers, killing each other in levels that makes the Iraq property option look a safer choice for a place to bring up a family or have jobs paying an honest wage for an honest days work.

I also think it's well strange that people in 2008 are making such a deal about his colour. Hell, he was the best PERSON for the job! Where I was growing up we were all mates and if you did not like someone it was not their skin colour but them that you had a problem with. Maybe the US is now in the stages of 1960's New Zealand living? In our Government there is Black, White and Asian New Zealanders. The race card is only used by the small amount of hick people yet to learn the New Zealand way of living '<img'> My view has always been that you can't dislike someone until you know about them, and colour/race is not knowing them!

Good luck Mr US Pres. I hope you have the answers as you've got many questions coming!
Hope you are making jokes and have a smile on your face my Danish diplomatic friend. Long may your memory live!

We have a new President.

And it will affect the entire word.

The 1st line is all good for the US. That 2nd line does make myself and I'd say many others feel uneasy.

I for one think the US holds more power than it should do. The view of 'you're with us or against us' did make me wish there was more balance around the world  '<img'>

Its all over...9.07pm Pacific time it was official.

We have a new President.

I totally agree Dark Monster. I couldn't be happier about it. Despite the obvious benefits of not having another republican government, John McCain, or the 'bulldog in lipstick' anywhere near the leadership of the states (and pretty much by default the western world) I think Barack coming to power is finally the beginning of the end of a legacy of deep seated (and accepted) racism among our parents, and their parents generation. It symbolises the voice of a younger, more forward thinking generation who willingly came out and supported a new direction for the states.

With 65% of people voting compared to more normal - around 50% even that is a good thing!

People getting passionate about their country and it's direction is great, did you see the tv coverage of everyone in the streets! partying!! can you imagine that for bush!? no.

My ride to work that morning, i did feel something had changed in the world, sounds cheesy, but that day was an important one. The states can be proud of what they have achieved with voting in a charasmatic and inspirational leader. And it couldn't have come at a better time for them inho. Well done and congrats to the states! '<img'> happy fecking days!

A bit short sighted to say you don't give a shit, but each to their own. If we had an comparable leader in the UK, perhaps it would spur more people on to take an interest in politics.

Good luck Barack - you have an almost impossible task and have high expectations to live up to, but lets face it, you couldn't be any worse than your predecessor!

personaly i dont think it mattered much who got in as president as i think they are just puppets for the people behind the scenes that run things

ie The list of Barack Obama's advisers reads like a who's who in the New World Order. There's George Soros, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Warren Buffet, David Rockefeller and quite a few more people either directly or indirectly involved

look up and research NEW WORLD ORDER its frightening stuff

clicky

clicky

theres lots of conspiracy theorys about but it seems strange that this one when searching major powers that mention this vids on u tube seem to get removed

now i am not saying i totaly  believe in all this but it makes a lot of sence of how things seem to be shaping up

one power behind controling everything  that goes on in the world
quoted in one article
"Their intention is to effect complete and total control over every human being on the planet and to dramatically reduce the world's population by two thirds. While the name New World Order is the term most frequently used today to loosely refer to anyone involved in this conspiracy, the study of exactly who makes up this group is a complex and intricate one"

frightening stuff eh

someone quoted on a radio phone in, that he has been researching some of this and everyone voted in high office has quoted something about new world order somewhere in their speeches including our own Prime Ministers

scary stuff
 ':crazy'

Well your first link was to David Icke's "reptilian aliens are taking over the world" theory. It scares me that anyone seriously believes that stuff, which is the result of him taking a certain '80s science fiction programme called "V" a little bit too much to heart.

no david Ickes is based on this stuff that has been going on since the 1300s and having been involved with freemasonary this isnt just theorys it scares me that people like you close your mind to this stuff and just believe in ya fairy tale endings and turn things to suit what you want to believe in

as for the first black president makes me laugh cos if he had been something bad he would have been mixed race and black or white wouldnt of wanted to claim he was either

it shouldnt be anything about race people should vote on how good he can do a job not on the colour of his skin
that counts for every race

if people voted just cos he was black white yellow then they are voting for the wrong reasons

He did get 95% of the black vote. But I think just as many white people would have voted for JM due to his colour. Those that vote on colour are always going to be there. But I'm sure their numbers are falling fast across all the Western world. No matter what colour a rich person is, I think they all think and act in the same way.

I hope for better times for the average Jhon in the US. But I hope for REALLY hard times for those in the upper class in the US. The loss of most of the Government surplus here in Australia is directly linked to the US and how greedy the upper class are over there! I live for the day when the US banks/wall street have a bad run of things and it's the rich in the US that feel the pain and not the average John on the street in the US and across the world. After all, we get F/all while they making their billions from us!
