I popped in and saw John on saturday... he was laying on his back watching Top Gear on Dave. In good spirits considering how much it must hurt.....makes me feel all wibbly at the knees. I took him the riders digest and Motorcycle Monthly, he had a book but no other reading material (hint for the next visitor). Hopefully by today they will allow him to eat or drink something a bit more substantial.

Hi Guys
Sorry -things have been hectic. Thanks for going to see him, BB, I know he was pleased to see you.
When I arrived just after Tan, John was chomping at the bit to eat or drink. Unfortunately where all the stomach and intestines etc are moved out of the way to get access to the spine, it all goes into shock, hence why they were allowing nothing to eat until there had been movement in that department !
As everything was working ok by that time, John's surgeon came back and we cleared it for John to eat 'normal' foods. By Saturday night, I left him eating poached eggs, toast and a cheese platter ..... alright for some !!!
Since then strangely he has gone from strength to strength !! lol. All lines/IV's have now been removed and he is up and about walking and has done the stairs with the physio. With this in mind, the surgeon says he should be able to come home tomorrow evening, I will collect him about 8pm. He has a 10/12" scar with 31 clips/staples !
The surgeon has already been pencilled in for 22nd or 29th Jan for the 2nd disc to be done !
Please PM me anyone wishing to visit once he is out of hozzy as he will stay at mine most probably in Carshalton and I can give you the address.

Had all the staples out Friday ok, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be
Still pretty sore and back is painfull, all part of the recovery I guess.
Thing is, the surgeon could only replace the lower, less damaged disc this time, so won't feel much difference until the more damaged disc is replaced end of January.
Thanks for thoughts guys and looking forward to getting back on 2 wheels, whenever that will be

Good to see you today Burger, thanx for popping in and making me smile

Good to hear you are on the mend, hope the January op makes a significant difference and you will be back on the bike just in time for the good weather and the End of Winter Ride. What an incentive
