Some of you may or may not know that WDZ has a double disc op tomorrow. 7 day stint in the Cromwell and then recuperation after, so unfortunately it could be a while off the bike for him and I - how very dare him ! ...... then again, knowing WDZ, that probably won't stop him !
I will post full details after his op tomorrow to let you all know how he's doing and if anyone would like to visit let me know and I can give you the details. Am sure he'd appreciate seeing some faces... even you lot ! lol

Hi all
Got in after midnight last night, so excuse not posting up then.
UPDATE :
After nearly 4 hours in the op theatre, he went straight into intensive care. I left him last night about 11.30pm fairly comfortable if not a little fuzzy as to be expected. He is of course hooked up to all sorts of IV's and lines and on morphine. I spoke to him this morning and he seemed more with it and they were hoping to get him back to his room this morning. They have intentions of trying to get him up walking later today (stop DVT etc).
He is now on higher doses of morphine to try and give pain relief but unfortunately the worst news was that they could only replace 1 disc, it became unsafe after the length of time in theatre to continue - the accompanying vascular surgeon thought it too risky. As you can imagine, John is very disappointed with this outcome.
The surgeon said that when they opened him up, they could find hardly any fat at all (which is what he hadn't expected ...... as you rotten lot probably did too !!! lol) and found mostly muscle. In fact he went on to say he hadn't encountered anyone before quite as muscular as John. This of course was the delay in getting to the spine and discs, making the whole procedure much more lengthy.
The worst bit for him ....... he can't eat or drink for 2 days !!! This is to rest the intestines, stomach and bowel because of the invasive treatment it's all received.
Once he is back in his room, he will no doubt be able to switch his phone on so I am sure he would appreciate some well wished texts and would suggest any visits from Sunday/Monday onwards. Please PM or text me and i'll let you have contact details/information.
Thanks all for your support, I am sure he's going to be quite down for a bit due to the disappointment of it not being done and dusted in the way we had all hoped.
