People will forget what you have said and they will forget what you have done--but they will never forget the way you made them feel.

Prison for stunting?  Unless people were injured, scared or he'd been intimidating people or had some near misses, I think a prison sentance is far too strong.  Being banned for 2 years is bad enough.

PS - The sentance was 12 weeks, not 3 years - Doh!  ':p'

Thing is though lesser sentences are given to people that beat up and mug old ladies!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Compared to that this punishment doesnt fit the crime.

The blokes a plonker for posting it and equally if he does it through towns but wheeling at speed or just traveling at speed on an empty dual carriage way if he falls off all he will do is kill himself and no one else will be involved. Leave him be.

The wording you use of "prevention is better than cure" would make many people in the Govenment rub their hands and smile as they have you so scared of life that you think prevention of someone living life due to a percentage chance of being a risk to others for what they are currenlty doing is the best way to live life.
Maybe take a walk down the road to the cop shop and ask them to take you DNA, fingerprints and a copy of your plans for the coming week. We would not want you to be a percentage danger to anyone else out there would we now  ':baa:'

The guy was a cock and deserved everything he got but I do agree with Mattp, we have to be allowed to make the choices we want and with those choices are the consequences we have to live with, its a double edged sword but thats what life is about.

I think everyone can say they have been victims and lost someone they love at the negligence of someone else, unfortunately its a fact of life and in health and safety you train educate and reduce the risk as best you can but ultimately people will do what they want and they have every right too, we dont expect authorities to adopt big brother approaches to prevent these freedom of choices but we expect them to act and prosecute when something does go wrong.

Life is about choice, we just hope the other people around us make the right choice, prevention is not the cure its control, The prosecution of this chap was after the event, and the police acted well in this, what we would not want is them standing out side our house to prevent us making these choices, its a fine line to tread.

Phew, it was getting cold and lonely out in the wilderness, then to 'hear' the above from Burger was like a ray of sunshine.

It must be a picture of peace and tranquility in your household. '<img'>

sirella i don't think there was any need for you to say that. I remember matt saying something similar to cap moto and merry hell broke loose. It seems like everyone on here is too quick to get personal at the moment.

Pieman,

lots of others say stuff that's personal and possibly insulting/aggressive/rude, so why put in a personal rebuke only to me?

If you were insulted by what I said, I apologise, but I will not moderate what I say to that degree when everyone on here is advocating freedom of choice and bugger the consequences!

I was not saying we should be banned from riding bikes, nor have personal police escorts everywhere to keep us under control, nor be tagged at birth.  I was merely saying that if someone getting prison for riding like a twat prevents someone else from doing the same thing then it's a good thing.  People die everyday from people being stupid in both cars and on bikes.

I think part of the reason some people are against this guy getting jail is coz they are worried it will be them in the dock next.

As the adage goes – if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
Love my new bike!

you didn't though you said

Quote
when someone you love is killed

And although I couldn't give a toss, I was merely observing that previously the same person you are insulting said a similar thing about someone else and merry hell broke loose. Also don't forget that some of these people insulting each other have met each other in person. I'm not sure exactly why, but that seems to make it a bit more acceptable.

Why not settle for insulting someone, why bring their family and friends into it? Perhaps you didn't mean what you said and you aren't the only one on here who needs to read carefully before hitting the 'post' button recently.

one day, this MANIAC!!! might run over your mother, your sister, your girlfriend/wife AND... AND... might go on a shooting spree at the local school afterwards.  How would you feel then?  Huh??  At least his DNA will be on the national database now, so he can easily be identified after the slaughter.

It's funny, I was talking to a colleague who couldn't understand how I could own such a powerful bike and not go round stunting on it. He was positive he would become a master stunter if he got a bike. I replied to him that I didn't know anyone who could pop a decent wheelie that hadn't broken a fair amount of bones/ bikes and I didn't have the pain threshold or the deep pockets to do it. He replied he hadn't thought of that. I reckon he'd probably just become even more of a master bator if he got a bike.

Trouty you said MIGHT, not WHEN. I know I'm just being anal, but WHEN implies a positive not a possible.

Come on, FFS, we're just starting to get a bit of life on the site after hardly any post over the last month or so, why does everyone have to be so bloomin grumpy. Everyone is entitled to a point of view, that's no reason to get personal just because you disagree. Can't people keep their arguments a bit more general?
