from central london (or pick it up anywhere really) hit the a10 heading north. get past the m25 and it opens up into larger road.Once out of cheshunt, theres no traffic lights or camera's and it's a nat speed limit (mostly dual carriageway/wide road) heading towards buntingford. At buntingford, go left onto the A507 towards Baldock.
Fantastic country lanes now, good visibility, VERY POPULAR WITH BIKES ON A SUNDAY. Go thru Baldock and continue to follow the A507 towards Ampthill. The road will become very fast with roundabouts in the middle of the stretches. yes u can reach 120+ between roundabouts (but be HARD on the brakes!) at the 3rd roundabout after the airman hotel, go straight on (A600 Bedford) more big road, then again thru countryside. Still no camera's. Careful as u get to Cotton End and get on those brakes!! theres a nasty right hander that catches a lot of people out (speshully me!)....

then just have some fun around bedfordshire, hundreds of country roads to explore, some nasty, some nice, some fast, some not so..

pace of the roads

Hey Darren
Know all those roads well, great fun.
If you take the Buntingford Road out of Baldock towards Essex, the twisties are great, and there is one part where at the right speed you take off as you go over a hump back bridge, then up the hill, everyone KNOWS what speed your doing if you take off!!   ':p'
Try some of the villages off the main roads too, wonderful twisties... '<img'>

I'm lucky enough to live 200 yards from the A507. There are plenty of other brilliant roads around here I could introduce anyone to, if they wish.

A507 Great road, only downside is the number of sainsburys lorries using it as they have a depo somewhere near
BETTER TO BE ON A SMALL SLOW BIKE (WITH ROADTAX) THAN A BIG FAST CAR

Sainsbury's depot is in Buntingford where the A10 meets the roundabout on the southern end. I don't think there are as many lorries on the road on Sundays though. I treat them as another challenge.
