yep, on the way back from scarborough saturday night i touched the back brake on a left hand bend and i lost it. dont remember a great deal more after that, other than going into the back of an ambulance feeling all dizzy. both sides of the crankcase are smashed, just had a call off the bike shop and its a write off.
collar bone is busted... friggin gutted.

Bloody hell I'm really sorry to hear about this, Lee.

Probably little consolation to you right now but at least it was just the collar bone, and you live to ride another day.

Get well quick.

ah, its not too bad, ive had worse pain from a sharp shit.

the bike is coming back to mine tomorrow night courtesy of the guy next door. its a common machine so a new (secondhand) engine casing or engine could be on the cards. Providing of course that the frame and forks are ok.
Thanks for the call richard, you cheered me up no end  '<img'>

hey! some good news.
the bike is back in my garage, im amazed at how little damage there is to the back end..i.e fuck all!
tank is unblemished and the headlight isnt broken.
rang one of the lads in waterloo and he told me he has a dismantled engine for my bike in his garage.. including the engine casing... result!
also i emailed a bloke from ebay who i got some bits off ages ago and he said he is currently breaking two. more good news. ive tidie the bike right up and im waiting for the insurance assesor to come around... gonna be real kind to him and make lots of tea...fingers crossed i get cash in leiu of repairs and get to buy it back.. thats what i want!
keep yaz all posted

I don't think you're obliged to let the insurance company take it. It doesn't belong to them unless you agree to the deal. I've certainly never let them take any of mine away - not even for inspection - keep it in your garage where it belongs.

Now all you have to do is put it back to the way it was before you tidied it up that way you can argue for a cheaper buy back price.  ':crazy'

Thanks for all the nice words, the shoulder is feeeling a lot better already.

The day i binned the bike i was doing a 500 mile charity run. darlington to berwick upon tweed (thats scottish borders to you lot)

berwick to whitehaven (opposite coast) then down to Barrow in furness

then east on to Skipton
Skipton to Scarborough, and Scarborough back to Darlington.

It was the last leg I binned the bike on. I never made it back to Darlo.

You lot know me though.. I have a plan...
Keep overdosing on these calcium supplements that i bought in tesco's on monday, get my shoulder strong again, fix the blade up and re-do the last leg of the 500 mile challenge.
I recon it might take me somewhere between 4 and 6 weeks though..

The challenge was set up to gain sponsorship for the great north air ambulance..

God loves a tryer and the british love the "never say die" attitude.. so, who is gonna give me a tenner cheque for the air ambulance if i fix my bike up and complete the challenge?
