Sat nav mounts
« on: 02, June, 2008, 11:56:49 AM »
Hey peeps,

I want to try and mount my Tom Tom one to my bike. Now this is because I am a cheapskate and I cant afford a Tom tom rider proper bike sat Nav.

I need to mount the sat nav and try to keep it dry as well as its not water proof.

I have tried putting it in the map pocket of my tank bag and its ok but the plastic see through material seems to suck down onto the screen and it then repeatedly skips through all of the options and you lose the navigation screen.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can mount the sat nav and keep it dry?

Ta

When we were in spain Naughty Lee used a few sandwich bags and many elastic bands..... he used the same kit for when he attached the Sat Nav to his bike '<img'>

Sandwich bag is a cool idea I like that. I want to try and mount it on the top yoke. I thought of cable ties but that would be a pain to get it on and off quickly.

Terry, what bike u have nowadays? When i used a pda as my gps I covered the front with a plastic sheet and taped round the sides, then on the back of the pda i put velcro on it, and then the other part of the velcro on my rev counter, i could then press fit the pda over it and made easier reading while riding. PDa was good for several hours on battery life, even more if i only switched it on once in a while to chekc my route.

just an idea, or, you got any old cd spindles kicking about '<img'>

Terry, quick fix for you, pay a visit to your local Halfords, they have a promotion at till this week for large (50mm Dia) velcro pads, 1 should be big enough and strong enough to hald a pda to your clocks, fyi and less than £2 as i bought some to fix an annoying rug yesterday
