An empty 2-litre plastic milk bottle for those inevitable needs.  I don't know why - I never need to piss in the night at home but I always do several times when camping.

I'd also prefer to use a bivvy-bag to sleep in.  Stuff the mat and sleeping bag inside, then yourself.  Wind-proof, water-proof and warm.
West London MAG Rep: Meeting at the Masons Arms, Teddington, Tuesdays 21:00, all welcome.

You is like well organised..... I have a £10 tent from Asda and thats it!

I am gonna bring a head lamp for nipping to the loo.  When I was backpacking in NZ I shared a room with an old woman from Texas and seemed to spend the whole night p!ssing into a pint glass..... totally grossed me out.

sod the mat...get a single air matress and a small battery powered pump....you'll sleep SO much better!

A pee bottle is VITAL. Ladies can use these...

Pee Mate

saves on mess and swearing.

Headlamp or torch is also a must.

If you have a cheap (£20) sleeping bag, take a quilt (space obviously is not good on a bike so get someone with a car to take extra bedding).

If you are going to go camping more often invest in a therma-rest they pack down small and fit on a bike, and a really good sleeping bag which will stuff down into a very small bag and be very warm. I must admit I have to take a pillow as well because I can't sleep without one.

Good bedding is the most important thing because if you get cold you can go and snuggle down and warm up again. If your bedding is rubbish then you won't warm up, unless you are lucky and the sun stays out all night!!!

Have fun and don't get cold.
Camping time where's me tent..

Backpackers compact single burner gas stove. Compact and light weight design with folding pan supports

Compact and light weight
Stainless steel and brass construction
Boils a pint of water in 3 minutes
3 Year guarantee
Uses EN417 cartridges
Was £14.29  Now  £11.00

If you want to subscribe to a minimalist approach, which personally I favour when travelling by motorcycle, aside from a Tent, Sleeping Mat and Sleeping bag imho the only other items I think are essential are...

First Aid Kit

Hip flask of whisky and some Neurofen...

LED headtorch

Any old LED headtorch from Millets or wherever will do, aside from Petzl the rest of them are all much the same these days (I use a Petzl Tikka XP, superb quality but pricey) my advice is just buy the cheapest one you can find that you like the look of, though having a function to vary the brightness is worth having.

Swiss Army Knife

I find that the best Swiss Army Knife for all round camping and outdoor use is the Swiss Army Climber, it has scissors which surprisingly the Swiss Army Camper doesn't have. All of the bigger Swiss Tools, Gerbers etc with locking blades are illegal to carry in the UK. The Climber has everything you need with nothing you dont and a blade that falls within what is legally acceptable to carry with you if you have good cause...

Some means of making a cuppa/heating water

After years of using a Coleman stove that runs on petrol, and setting fire to a couple of tents as well, I have now discovered the convenience of the JetBoil system, for making hot drinks with the minimum of fuss and effort it is the business, really safe to use inside the tent too and especially worth having is the accessory that turns it into a cafetiere/coffee press, it's a superb piece of kit, although it's not cheap, I got mine for christmas '<img'>

Titanium folding spork

A folding titanium Spork is essential, use it for making tea, coffee, eating and impressing people with how pointlessly light and compact it is !

Water bag

After trying several different makes over the years the best water bag I have found is made by Ortlieb. I have several which I use regularly and they have never let me down.

I often take a couple of Travellunch dehydrated meals (as used on Long Way Down) with me just in case I have problems sourcing food when I arrive somewhere but on the whole I don't bother cooking food whilst camping these days as its just too much hassle with all the pans and cutlery, washing up and stuff and anyway you can always do a run to the local shop and get a disposable barbeque, paper plates and some meat when you get where your going or grab a Pot Noodle from the garage on the way.

I would avoid foam mats as although they are light they are damn uncomfortable and surprisingly bulky compared to a "Thermarest" style mat, but don't buy a genuine Thermarest as they are too expensive, I use an Alpkit Slim Airic, packs down small, light and good value for money, order before midday and you'll have it next day. Great customer service from these guys too.

My last bit of advice is by all means skimp on everything except your sleeping bag, spend as much as you can afford and then a bit more to get the best one you can and then look after it (don't store it compressed in its bag...) btw you can save on needing a bulky sleeping bag by taking your thermal underwear with you to sleep in.

...and get yourself a bottle of Oasis drink and keep the empty bottle, they have a nice wide neck lol '<img'>

It's only Brands ffs, you can nip home for a sarnie. When the festival of 1000 bikes used to be there we's all camp for 3/4 days and pop back for showers and cat feeding.

tankbag, panniers and rucksack maybe ? Oxford do some panniers that don't hang so low as their standard ones ? I had some, they worked on my FireBlade '<img'>

I think Fruitskin got some sort of frame rack thing for his Superduke when he went to france 2 up camping ?
