I hadn't realised we were all assuming it was the earht. I nevermade that assumption. Just supposed a sphere. Any sphere.  Ho hum.  Hic.  Dr Who was good.,   He'd never make assumptions either...
Please give blood and write a Will.  No, seriously. Do it.
And join the Motorcycle Action Group.  And British Motorcycle Federation, but specially MAG.

Two cars set off from the same point. One travels 4 miles north and then 3 miles west and reaches its destination. The other travels 4 miles south and then 3 miles east and reaches its destination. What distance apart are they when they both reach their destinations?

the answer is 14 miles* whats all this hypopotenous nonsense

* assuming that both routes taken were on straight roads and occurred exactly the same point in time and space.

Show us your workings for that one Alex.......

By my reckoning, and what with the square on the hypotenuse being equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides, 4 squared (16) plus 3 squared (9) = 25. Square route of 25 is 5 and double it. That gives me 10 miles. Was yours the scenic route?  '<img'>

Admittedly my maths isn't all that, but my confidence was high on this one unless you know different?

As the crow flies algorythim does not apply to Jocks  '<img'>

We always take the same route back  ':crazy'
