Ski and snowboard trip
«

first off i thought i would put this in a differant thread to make life easier
basically, you can see what it is from the title, a ski and snowboard trip on sat the 12th of january for one week,
is open to all TLB members, old and new, and it will most likely be offered to CBC as a lot of members are on both forums, there will hopefully be room for friends and partners also if you wish
if possable i would like to ask if we can keep this thread about the topic in hand and not drift off, as i may need to use it to gather info if needed
now i dont want to sound all agressive, but the date stated IS the date been given with the deal we have been given, so if you want to come but are unfortunate enough to not be able to make it, please dont start posting about changing dates, or venues, as it wont happen, we have been offered a great deal and its taken me long enough to sort out this far, im not gonna go back to the start again
now thats all out the way ill give ya the details
the dates are sat 12th jan for one week
the venue is Alpe d'Huez in france
the price works out at (roughly, give or take a few quid) £455 per person, as long as we have 10 or more people, there has been room for 10 people reseved until tuesday evening, but as it stands right now, there is enough for about 25 people, the more people we get, the bigger discount we get, although for this to happen, the rooms must be booked at once (wed morning at the latest)
this price covers flights, transfers, lift passes (for the whole area), and accomadation with cooked or continental breakfast, afternoon tea and cake and a three course evening meal with unlimited wine (for those of you that had done this before you will know that this is a cracking deal)
after that cost all you need is insurance, spending money, and if you dont have your own stuff, equiptment hire, altho we have already been given a deal on that also, which is 20% off if pre booked through the ski company
now if you want to go, a deposit of £120 needs to be paid when we book the rooms (which should be next week, as if we wait we will most likely loose the deal)
the balance then has to be paid off by 12th of november (it should be next week but again i have managed to get an extension due to the time scale)
now the resort info
Alpe d'Huez is a fantastic resort with a height of 1860m and glacier skiing up to almost 3500m, you don't get more snow sure than this, there is also some fantastic night life and plenty to do off the slopes.
It is a large purpose built resort sprawling out in a triangular shape with lift stations at two of the apexes. There is a mixture of architectural building styles which are mainly modern in appearance. The extent and variety of terrain are hard to beat
the skiing
You have 220km of piste on one lift pass which are well connected and varied, therefore it is a resort ideal for groups or families of mixed abilities. The beginners have nursery slopes on the centre of town, intermediates are happy with a series of blues and reds including tree lined runs in the more rustic Vaujany area. Experts will enjoy the 16km Sarenne run – the longest black run in Europe, and some excellent off piste.
advanced
Amazing challenges lie in store for the expert skiers. Try the Sarenne, the longest black run in Europe at 16km but beware as once started, you have to finish it as there are no exits on the way down! Other exciting black runs include La Balme, the Tunnel and the Thigh-pumping Super Signal mogul field.
intermediate
There is a vast choice of blues and reds with some of the best being on the Le Signal d’Homme and Plat des Marmottes. With the possibility of a day’s skiing in Les Deux Alpes and Serre Chevalier, the choice becomes endless.
beginner
Newcomers to skiing are well catered for with a free lift and the option of buying locally a limited access daily ski pass (around 10 euros for 11 lifts) which covers gentle green runs. Progress can be quickly made under the expert guidance of the local ski school (a full lift pass is necessary for those in ski school).
snowboarding
Alpe D’Huez offers some amazing and varied terrain, keen freeriders will be in their element here. You can go in search of powder in areas such as Villard-Recluas, Avris and the Glacier de Sarenne. Freestylers will be smiling too as there is a pipe and snowboard park, though there is an abundance of natural kickers and rollers all around the resort. Suits experienced boaders rather than learners.
apres ski
There is a lively nightlife here with plenty of bars, live music and nightclubs to choose from. The best bars include the Roundhouse, the little Avalanche Bar and The Underground Bar. We have heard good reports on the following restaurants – the Cremaillere’ the Au P’tit Creux and the Genepe. There are a number of nightclubs including The Stage One and the Igloo.
The L'Escapade is a 'Chalet Hotel' which are basically hotels which have been taken over by operators and run on a chalet board basis. The location is fantastic being right on the piste and just a few minutes from the centre of town.
The board basis includes, cooked or continental breakfast, afternoon tea and cake and a three course evening meal with unlimited wine.
Facilities here include an outdoor hot tub, a sauna, steam room and a small private bar.

I'm well looking forward to this one, it'll give me a chance to show off my acrobatic boarding abilities
'> Last time I got involved in acrobatic boarding was on a skateboard
