Whats your dream?
« on: 01, October, 2007, 10:39:18 AM »
I was reading up on Trouty’s thoughts of his racing this year and about racing again next year….. and its always at this time of year that I start thinking about next years challenge….

You know how it is… the summer is over, your getting the bike ready for winter and you know that you are gonna have some great rides over the winter… but you need that one thing to keep you looking forwards …. What’s yours?

Be it that circumnavigation of the globe a la ‘The Long way round’
Or to ride to Spain (as was mine this year)
Or get ya knee down (Clint)
Or race (Mikey)

What you thinking of for next year?

Me… I wanna go worship at the temple of Japanese motorbike engineering, have proper tea and take a ride to admire Cherry Blossoms.

I never ever thought I’d ever get to Spain this year….. I think aiming to ride Japan is not gonna happen next year…. But wouldn’t it be nice if it did  '<img'>

Random thoughts about plans for biking next year that I'm having at the moment include...

Oktoberfest
Circumnavigating the UK
Ireland Touring
Scottish Islands Touring
Isle of Man TT
Northwest 200
and the somewhat cliche riding accross the States (but not on a Harley...)

My Ambition next year is to do a full Euro run with Pics and video ,do some stops over there and drop into friendly biking bars or cafes, Possibly do the ring while i'm passing through there , theres more that i wan't to do but in reality i'll have to plan it and see how far i will get , hoping i can do this run with another biker i know would be nice  '<img'>

as for knee down there will be Plenty of that this Summer ,  '<img'>

Like i keep saying I'm looking forward to a good summer this winter........    '<img'>

I'd be up for a european tour next year, especially if it was one with no particular rigid itinery just a rough plan of places we want to get to at some point, just kind of going with the flow and making it up as you go along, following the good roads and weather as the opportunity presents itself, eating, drinking and making merry with the locals as we go along, thats my idea of a relaxing holiday '<img'>

Not to crash, drop it, fall off, spend another sack load of money putting it right again.
Get IAM, RoSPA and Police motorcyclist added to list of qualifications.
Find biker girl.
Do Lands End & John O'Groats but not on the same day.

I've seen sat nav evidence to suggest that you might just make it in a day... 385mph should be quick enough... but the fuel stops will be pretty frequent  '<img'>

probably not, although leaving the UK and going to other eu countries is straightforward, if rather time consuming, the re-entry procedure for coming back to the UK is a bit of a nightmare. It's easier to put her into a kennel or have someone pet sit for me.

I'm having ago at advanced rider training as well. Gonna have a go at the ROSPA test in a few months time. I went to Art Motorcycling (OMD's gaff) on Saturday and put in few hours with Police Instructor employed by Steve. Top Rider made me look like a right no talent (yes, I know you all knew that anyway '<img'> ) . Really enjoyed it though.

I dont want to go when its too busy, although i am sure it will be great but been told its just as much fun out of busy season yet you get the roads to yourself, i remember going Manx GP time and having to remember what time they shut all the roads for practice laps

Mines simple, pass DAS and get to Isle of man for the TT next year. Should be able to manage at least one of hose two things.
Remember if at first you don’t succeed, parachutings not for you.
