Ooops, a Porsche clocked at 172mph
 ':crazy'

Will he a) be sent down for a long, long time, or b) be let off with three points?  ':stoopid:'

Sent down, no-one should do that speed on a public road, even if their name is Brady (my maiden name) '<img'>

My idiot cousin was nicked for "in excess of 172mph" on the M1 many years ago in his Dad's Lorinser Merc 500SEC...They couldn't get an accurate speed at the time as it was as fast as the cop car could go...allegedly '<img'>

He got banned

Won't happen I bet though.  After all recently a female doctor only got one year suspended for driving the wrong way down a dual carriageway and killing a biker - apparently because she was to quote the judge "a golden girl" and "brilliant".   '<img'>  '<img'>

5 Year ban, 10 years if reckless endangerment. Fine of £10/mph upto 100mph, £25/mph up to 125mph, £100/mph up to 150, £1000/mph above 150mph.

172mph = (30*10) + (25*25) + (25*100) + (22*1000) = £25,245.
Oh and if the owner of the vehicle it is seized and crushed, the driver is made to watch it being destroyed.

If caught driving while disqual then instant straight to goal.

Going by your figures Tall Guy, I know someone who could have been fined £35,725 on his bike.  Twice.

In this case, I hope the guy gets off with a small fine.  After all, the report doesn't say anything about him driving dangerously and he may be a good driver.  Just like the copper who did stupid speeds through a village and 130 ish on motorway sliproad, and quicker on the motorway itself claiming that he was "familirising himself with the vehicle".

Also, I have been to the village he was blasting through.

send him to prison - dont care how safe, careful, experienced he is - public roads are not the place for that kind of speed. what happens if the unexpected happens......

I'm not saying people shouldn't speed, oh yes I am (but I'll take that hat off for a moment) what I'm saying is consequences. 172mph is not justifiable on a public road. Why whould anyone consider it justifiable, even the police stop chasing at 150.

When someone does not get jail time for taking my bike or selling drugs then fuck all this shit about putting him in jail as he may have hurt someone because of speeding. There are more important people who should be in those jails than someone speeding. Give him a fine and take his DL away for a while. But put some real bad people behind the bars of the last couple of spaces which there are in the jails!

Why crush a "perfectly good" vehicle if it's still road worthy? I am honestly confused.

Shouldn't the rider's licence be "crushed" (banned) instead? Afterall his/her ego would have been crushed enough, right?

I guess when you knew a mother of a child killed by a speeding motorist then it puts a different perspective on it.........

In the same boat I guess when you know of many people (while I was growing up in NZ) who had their lives fucked by drugs and drunk drivers then you would think different.

IMO, a million people will speed today and not have a problem. But a million people will also have taken drugs and or got proper drunk last night and will be proper bunts to family, friends and strangers becasue of it. Take away the speed detectors and replace them with drug detectors and cops breath testing!

Why not chain the drivers to a wall and drive their own car into them?

? a little silly. Or are you saying that you are having them face the wall and not look at the on coming car like what happens when people are hit on the roads as they have no interest in looking before crossing?

Yet to find many people who look for cars to walk into. Most act without any interest in the motorists safety because the public are brainwashed into thinking all crashes between a car and pedestrian is the car drivers fault '<img'>

It's funny how people scream at drivers for the 'sorry I did not see you' when they hit us on bikes and then scream about the driver running over the person crossing the road without looking. Don't think the driver is in the wrong twice or are they?

IMO, if you are too silly to look then you're not much of a loss! Sick of thick people not looking when crossing the road, fucking up my bike and leg and then trying to sue me  '<img'> Hope said person walks into a truck!
