Where have I been when all this kerfuffle was going on?
OK here goes......
You have raised some wide and varied views, some of which are a little bit clouded, in my opinion.
Im not an expert, or anything close to it on social affairs, but I do have some views.
Immigration is instinctive.
We need water we live near a water supply.
We need need food we cultivate and harvest.
We need shelter we find a site with an acceptable climate.
Its instinct.
Todays world is more technical and intricate but above all else more financially motivated.
That is why we, as a country, like so many others, have carved up the worlds resources for our own future benefit.
We will take more if we can.
It just depends on how strong our opponents are.
In its basic form its called survival, however in todays climate its purely greed.
This country has evolved into a selfish, uncaring place and we are the cause.
We want more than we need.
We spend more than we can ever earn.
Its no wonder that the rest of the world wants a piece, when we go everywhere with such ease.
We spread the word unwittingly every time we step off a plane onto some foreign tarmac.
We sell our lifestyle to anyone whos watching.
We bought the american dream ourselves.
2 Cars, a nice house, 3 holidays a year and all the mod cons and gadgets that appear on our shelves.
Now we wonder why other people want a bit of the action.
We couldnt keep our mouths shut we had to brag about how brilliant it was to be British.
Not any more eh?
Were trying to shut the barn doors a little too late.
We didnt mind at first when we went to Bluewater and the like and ignored the strange accents preparing our coffees did we?
We didnt mind the minibuses on our roads at night taking strange looking people to the sandwich packing factory.
These immigrants, have been the back bone of our social lives.
They are the ones who have given up their weekends, and nights out so that we can enjoy ours.
Now........ they`ve got houses, and children, and nice cars. FAIR FUCKIN PLAY TO EM!
Against all the odds, and a discriminating culture, they are succeeding.
We dont like it do we?
So what do we do?
We find a few of them who have commited crime, and splash their wrong doing all over the papers.
We find a family of them who have had to live in a wooden shed, in order to save every last penny they can, from a piss poor wage, in the hope that one day, they will be able to live in a house like ours.
Oh its terrible the standards they set.
Working all the hours god sends, sharing a room with 5 other people, saving all their money.
I wish our people were so bloody minded and determined to succeed.
These people should be paid the same as you and I no question.
I have Lithuanian, Polish, Philipino, and Jamaican people I regard as friends.
They are the most determined people I know.
They never ever cause trouble at work, they never refuse to do a job, and they are ALWAYS AT WORK.
My friend Adam from Poland dropped a quarter tonne steel shutter on his leg.
He was back at work the next day!
No piss taking, no on the internet looking for a claims handler.
He just wanted to keep his job.
With a broken leg.
What a fuckin guy.......hard as they come.
I can sort of see where some people are coming from when they say.... "They work for next to nothing and its driving our wages down" well best we do something about it then, and raise their wages to our levels.
Tax them at our levels with no tax back after 5 years carry on.
Provide them with no benefits allowance etc.
But...
We must apply the same rules to ourselves.
Then we might not even need the likes of Adam we might just find someone here who is willing to dedicate himself to work.
I will probably emigrate somewhere myself some day and so will a lot of others on this site.
Oh I do hope we dont make the papers in our new countries.

personally i couldn't give a rats arse about immigration or Britain or nationality or religion, it's just words for people and bits of land and lines drawn on maps and peoples hair-brained superstitions and whacked out lifestyles, especially the catholics...
Everyone should be able to go where they want and do what they want when they get there (except the catholics obviously) within the limits of whatever law or culture of the land they happen to find themselves in.
As our common man we should welcome them and be generous with our favours towards them and treat them with kindness whowever they are and wherever they come from, however if they piss us off we should ship them to Australia (still plenty of room there after all)
We're all immigrants or invaders if you go back far enough after all and god knows lifes too short to worry about it anyway, isn't it ?

It's the sheer variety of people and cultures in this country that makes it great, it's a real melting pot. Always has been. We should be very proud of that.
Of course there is a criminal element that enters the UK for the purpose of exploiting its relative wealth, eg by smuggling drugs, guns, or fraudulent schemes. You do also get the odd terrorist.
This, however, is a tiny minority - the vast majority of immigrants are law abiding people, many of whom do essential jobs no-one born here wants to do, thereby keeping our inflation, and interest rates, at bay, and maintaining stability in our GDP growth and therefore of our economy generally.
We should welcome them, make them feel welcome, encourage them to get jobs and further their education, and integrate with our society.
The current Islamic terrorist threat is an entirely separate issue, and is the product of the West. It worked pretty well in motivating the Mujaheddin to remove the Russians from Afghanistan.
I guess it seemed like a good idea at the time...
