I know traffic wardens are not everyone's favourites but this is a bit extreme:

Traffic warden in intensive care after being struck repeatedly over the head with a crash helmet by a motorcyclist....

BBC News

That’s terrible!

I hope the getaway rider remembers to remove his helmet when filling up with fuel; at least he may get identified…  '<img'>

Not funny Riz - it's a horrible thing to happen and hardly helps the image of bikers either!

Thats awful, poor guy.
I know there are jobs that we hate but we've all gotta make a living and sometimes needs must with a job he prolly doesn't even like.  No need for that to happen.

Not being funny but read the whole story.  The guys were at a Wake for an soilder who died fighting for this country.  Imagine coming out to find a un helpfull and sarcastic ignorant warden.  Bad enough when your working and asking for their help let alone when your at a funeral.  The wardens need to be trained when to back off in my opinion.  Im not saying he deserves it but i can see theres more to this story than first appears.

Presumably they had not left a note on the bike saying "we are at a funeral please do not ticket this bike?"  (Or illegally parked Range Rover - which it seems was the one being ticketed).  In which case how was he to know and anyway - being at a wake does not give rights to park illegally.  If he had already started to write the ticket then he had no choice anyway but to complete it - unless he wanted to lose his job.

I don't like traffic wardens much either and yes many of them need better training - especially in how to manage difficult situations - but there is no excuse for that sort of behaviour.

Taking account that NONE of us know the full story here. I'm going to back DM and this is based on the parking wardens I have been in contact with.

I have no problem with what happened to this guy. I've been given a ticket before, and got off it as the twit had F'd up, and would loved to have done the same thing to that person '<img'> .

If you want to defend these people then that is your choice. For me I'd walk passed them and not look back if seeing this happening! Yes, I know they are people and yes I know that they may have a family, etc. But NO I don't give a flying F about them as they go around London issuing tickets on people knowing that they are wrong '<img'>

IMO, 1 down but many more to go!
Hope you are making jokes and have a smile on your face my Danish diplomatic friend. Long may your memory live!

I don't know the full story and so I wouldn't necessarily take anyone's side until I did.  Just on the face of what Ive read, it doesn't say he was being a twat and as with every job and person in life-there's good and bad in all of them and he wasn't necessarily a bad one.
As I said before, we all have a job to do to live, and Ive done plenty that Ive hated and he may well be in that position himself. If I had no other option in life and had kids/family to fend for, then I'd do what ever came up until something better came along, perhaps thats what he's doing, doesn't make him a bad person in my opinion.
Then again, he could be a complete twat too lol!
Rightly, we don't know the full story so really don't have an informed opinion on what happened.  So I will shut up now lol! '<img'>

I work in a regulatory field and as my job I have to obbey what the law tells me to do. If someone is doing something wrong or something that breaks the law then I would have to report it and make sure action is taken or I would lose my job and many things important to me. Just because I do that type of a job and people on the recieving end of the law dont like it doesnt make it right to give the person in authority a kicking.

lol, sorry Pen but there is no link between the two. The stress someone gets from seeing a motorbike going past at 40 in a 30 is very different, and will last a less time than the stress of someone getting an incorrect ticket.

Pen, I know that you are a peaceful person and there is nothing here for each of us. I'll agree to disagree with you  '<img'>

Terry, if you were 10% of the time getting it wrong and taking action which was wrong, what would happen to you? Payrise or something else?

Someone would complain and I would get the sack or dealth with accordingly by my boss. I have issued things wrong from time to time and been told off but dont deserve a beating for it.

I don't want to make a very long post discussing ethics and politics, but while I stress that violence should never be condoned and incidents such as these are totally out of order, I do realize in actual facts that people have reached boiling point because of the constant inefficiency, unfairness and corruption the "system" is bullying on us.

We too often hear of "bent" councils trying to push their ticket wardens to reach a target ticket quota. So the pressure is rising and as a result violence is also on the rise. Government and authorities should be looking at ways to make things more fair and honest if they want to stop this country from becoming extremely violent and dangerous like some USA cities.

At my job we have seen the wardens ticket the hearses, limousines and the cars with ATTENDING FUNERAL stickers in their windscreens.  (Incidentally, all these beautiful vehicles including the motorcycle hearses now have to have NO SMOKING stickers in them or the owners fined. Seriously.)Some of these wardens are on commission, some are deliberately chosen for their lack of ability to speak English so they can not debate ethics or morals and some are just plain insensitive bastards. I have to confess that when I had an email from a client once I noticed her signature appeared to imply she worked for Lambeth Council.  I wrote to her and the Lambeth parking folk based in WORTHING (how was the trip last night?) and we have not been ticketed quite so vigorously recently.

When I told the police about the event for BJ the police said they would send PCSOs or police NOT because they were worried about any problems the bikers may cause but so that they could prevent us from being ticketed - or at least try to.

I agree - we don't know the full story.
Still, he didn't deserve that. Was the helmet damaged? Sorry.Anyone seen SIDEWAYS where that biker woman attacks the guy with her helmet? We laughed at that, didn't we?  okay okay okay sorry.

everyones entitled to their opinion - but for those of you who actually dont give a shit that some c*nt decided to ruin a young lads life (not to mention his familys) by battering him half to death - and thought it justified because they were at a funeral??  BOLLOCKS....

If he was ticketing unfairly the ticket will be invalid.  There is absolutely no reason to beat anyone up, even if they are a traffic warden ticketing someone who will probably be drunk.

I can't believe anyone on this site would agree with beating someone up just because they're doing their job. IMO opinion it's people like that who deserve to be hospitalised, NOT the traffic wardens.

And is doesn't say anywhere it was a biker, it just says he was hit with a helmet and they made their getaway on a bike.
Love my new bike!

The only real time we have is now. All other times don't exist. Yesterday is a picture-postcard of a time that died. Tomorrow is a mind's eye promise that may never come.
