Worst puncture ever !
« on: 26, May, 2007, 09:38:17 PM »
Whilst coming back from seeing sirella this morning, I hear a whoomph and the back end starts meandering, bugger i think a puncture (or worse still a blow out).

Manage to push bike 1/2 mile to me Nans, who it turns out is on holiday and have to lock it there and leave it to go and get my kids on time.

Come back with kids and tools, get rear wheel off and take it over to HGB in ruilsip to get puncture done, only to be told the guy doing the tyres is off ill (strange illness to strike him donw near a bank holiday  '<img'> )

Get back in car and rush to make it to elsewhere to get tyre done decide to chance a car tyre place to fix puncture. They did there best, but I am not happy the puncture is about 1/2 an inch in length on outside, on inner edge more like an inch and an eighth. any one had a longer gash in thier tyre?

You're not trying Dan - RO had one that totally slashed his tyre across on the New Road one day!  '<img'>

Coming back from the Nuerburgring last year. just outside Brussels after some aggressive filtering I felt my steering was a bit funny. Puncture!!! '<img'>  luckily I had a repair kit and managed to fix it myself on the side of the road (40degrees c). the plug got me all the way home. '<img'>
If you find any spelling mistakes, you can keep them.

avoid HGB in ruislip like the plague mate......they are the ***** that damaged my rims......I'll put up a proper post about it, but after a meeting with the director of the company yesterday I can assure you that if they damage your bike they will not compensate you in any way.

True... a 5 inch slash clean through and the AA still insisted on sending a man to try and repair it once I had convinced them that i was not carrying a servicable spare!

Not good about your new tyre mate. I assume the slice is radial rather than accros the tread but I would still not be happy with a repair. A small circular pucture from a nail or a screw that has been plugged is one thing but any more than that ammounts to structural damage to the tyre and I'd want to replace it, despite the cost.

Kev, I know what you mean, but needs must! I wont use them out of choice and this friday am taking the wheel off and over to Motocare in romford, as they do a top job!

RO, you are right i dont trust the tyre now,its just not worth it and at the end of the day I need to have confidence in my tyres I wont with that repair I only did it as a get you home measure, but if any of the stunting boys on here want the tyre then I will keep it and they can come and collect it. Its a zr17 160/60 if any one wants it after friday they can have it!
