Ok I think I will be putting my name down for next year's trip to Scotland, if there is one. I have been there many times, but only once on a motorcycle. Each time I would camp at a place called Inveralligin which is on the banks of Upper Loch Torridon, right at the foot of Ben Alligin, for 20p per night!! '<img'>

It would be nice to stay at a B&B for a change - travelling light and not getting bitten by midges. Would I be allowed to organise a breakaway mountain walking/climbing contingent?

Only joking mate...........

I have no authority to tell anyone what to do.
I dont want to hijack this ride or its planning, routes or arrangements.
But I would imagine that Grandma, Yeti and Tallguy would welcome your company as would I.

Scotland Ride last chapter.....

dont worry there is an epilogue '<img'>

Ride Report........

The Great Glen getaway.  '<img'>

Scotland day 3

This what it was really all about.
The chance to take to the hills and nail the buggers.
We left around 10.30 and made our way to Inverness.
I was semi prepared for the weather, which had turned grey and damp.
The bike was pulling like a train, though still a little on the oily side.
We stopped off down the road, and caught up with the Scottish Rally participants who were quite a bunch.
There were loads of characters and masters of patience.
One woman, had just completed around 650 miles travelling at approx 40 miles an hour........ ':crazy'
We showed our admiration, then promptly mounted up, to resume the ride north.
The weather was starting to worsen, whilst the roads were doing their worst to our tyres, and our steering dampers.
We were around 20 miles outside Inverness, when Yetis tool kit was once again called upon and yes it was my R1 again.
This time though, the Ohlins steering damper had decided to free itself on a bend, and was flapping against the fuel tank.
Here we go again........... Y  E  T  I  help!!!
We managed to get the damper off, locked it securely in the tail piece, had a couple of fags, and inspected our bikes, to find that the road surface, had been bubbling the rear tyres on all our bikes. ''
We then made our way to Inverness for a spot of lunch.
We stayed for around 90 minutes then decided to head for Fort William.
This is where the fun really kicked in.....
The road was doing its damnedest to throw us all down the hill.
The pace was altered due to the wet weather, and the 10 inch tarmac strip, that sat nicely on our riding line all the way down the hill.
I felt the rear wheel slide on more than one occasion and the conditions almost claimed Yeti.
Personally speaking....... I was getting mentally drained, due to constantly thinking where to put the bike, and what line to take.
The brakes were practically forgotten about, and I resorted to using the engine revs instead.
I found this allowed me to powerslide slightly and gave me a right buzz of adrenaline on some of the tighter bends and there seemed to be plenty of them.
I was starting to get wet at this time, and so were the rest of the group, as the drizzle seemed eternal.
We eventually got to the Glencoe road.
I thought to myself........Im having this big time.
There were twists, turns, dips, and rises, all over the place it was completely unbelieveable.
It was still wet and dreary weather but that just seemed to melt into the moment.
I cant even begin to describe the sights and scenery my eyes caught........it was breathtaking.
We eventually got back to the B&B and I couldnt get rid of my smiles.
What a fantastic climax to what was an amazing weekend.
My thanks to Grandma, Yeti, Tallguy and Sylvia for the chance to ride with them, their company and their help.
My names down for next year defo...........if you`ll have me.
