well im still looking for a bike.
it'll be badly looked after, commuted daily, thrashed, left outside in all weathers, probably crashed. maybe trackdayed. ungaraged. recent theft claim will affect insurance premium.
SV650's can be had pretty cheaply these days i notice, reckon one of them would fit the bill?? or would i hate it with a passion?

After riding Alba's for 1200 miles I have to say I fell in love with it. Got home slapped some Diablo's and I love it even more!!!!!!
From what I hear they are trouble free engines and they do generate alot of grins.
Give one a go for a test ride and I bet you dont regret it.
Grandma says they have always been over rated!

oi you! I got one of them...... had 150+ downhill mind but still 142 on the level. 0-60 in 4 seconds is hardly under powered and they handle like you would not believe

More reasons FOR...
Not too dissimilar to ya race bike, so not got to get use to riding two bikes with different engine charactaristics (sp) hic
Stick a race fairing on it and do a couple of rounds of Minitwins
'>
Against...
Can't think of any...
Keep thinking of getting one meself, but I'd have to build a bigger garage first

The 650 is a great bike for all the reasons above. If I was you I'd get the 03+ bike and in blue.
If people try and look down on you, you will always have the last laugh after asking them where they are racing this weekend
'> .
As for parts
www.sv650.org
is a great palce. Many people on that site always have parts for sale and becasue its a very large site if someone is trying to sell something for over the odds, another person will post about it the price being silly..........Also its a Suzuki

my mechanic recently bought one and its lovely to ride, though it does have a bit of an image as a girls bike - which means that they would have to live with being overtaken by a girl's bike!

I have one and its perfect for commuting, it has enough pick up in second and third, smooth handling at slow speeds, the sitting position is very comfy, there is an abundance of parts, and ok, it may not do above 140 but will you be mad enough to ride around London above 70 even at night?
And i personally love the low rumbling sound of a twin.

Wrong! mine went off the scale on more than one occassion downhill on the M2 approaching Rochester bridge (2 mile downhill straight) speedo is 150mph on the 650s and i was way past that.
on the flat if you push her she will top 140 not that you should though

Don't let Johnny Zero hear you call it an under powered girls bike. Both he and Caron have them and they seem ok. I was tempted with the ER6F myself.

Thats why I love Diablo's, Get warm quick.
So, I think its decided trout's, If you dont mind people's thoughts on these bikes and you just want it to do the job you cant go wrong with these bikes, And if and when you crack it out on the weekend you will also know that you can have fun on it.
Saying that, It aint a sportsbike, I aint gonna sit here and sing its praises all day, it aint an SRAD or an R1 or a CBR, ITs just an SV650, As long as you know that, and if you get on the bike with a decent amount of riding capability you will come away with a grin.
So buy one, Go shopping on it, Travel to the show shop, Go get your perm done and pick up your pads, There is loads of under seat storage for all your nail varnish's!
P.S This is a joke, please refer to me earlier posts to see that I rate these bikes and Im not suggesting in any way they are built just for gils.
They are also built for large men who body build, you know the types, all men men, never drank a baby sham and all that!
