Me: 41, 13 years NCB, Member of IAM, full bike licence for 24 years.
Bike: 2004 R1, 3 years old, owned from new. Garaged at home, ground anchored, Almax chains - 4 of them!
Need: Fully comp, protected NCB, DOV, social/domestic/pleasure use, plus Class 1 Business use (driving/communting to more than one place of work).

I've just got off the phone from 1st Choice.  They quoted me £809 with Zenith on my bike with £600 excess which is the highest excess that I've ever had.  The lady said that it is my Class 1 use that is making the premium high.  So I asked her to drop that off so we could see a comparison.  She then said "That's weird, Zenith are now not quoting for you, and the premium has gone up to over £1000.

So far, my renewal is £365 with Choice Quote,  but I've had other quotes, the lowest so far is £340.  Bearing in mind that it is no longer a new bike, and is EXTREMELEY secure, I still think that is far too high.

I was told that the insurance changes each month depending on what has been stolen/crashed/etc, in what area, by which sex and by what age group in the month before.

I park the Facotry in a Gov building with guards and there is little difference on the price. Then again I don't think there are many good postcodes in London for cheap insurance.

4 years NCB,

£350 full comp.

Sure this will go up dramatically on my renewal later this year, with my 6 new shinny points for speeding last year. ':crazy'

I've just got off the phone with Choice Quote, who I'm currently insured with.  They've quoted me £335.  I've got over a week left on my policy, so plenty of time to do some shopping.

TPTF on a TRX 850 when I was 28 with a value of £1800 was.....£1850  '<img'> Told them about the 3 chains and made no difference. I went 3rd party on for £450odd which worked out well as the more I found out about the TRX the more it was clear to me that no one would want to take it  '<img'>

LOL, not really.

There was a thread last year about insurance costs, I think I came top.....  '<img'>

In last years Ride rider power survey, I was the person with the highest insurance cost in the country. I think it must be my job....

Well I dunno why - RO pays less than £300 fully comp through them for his Daytona with less NCB!

My renewal for the GS with only 2 years is £101 fully comp.  We both have protected NCB too and I am sure we have Class 1 as well.
