as few of you already know, my bike is still awaiting recovery in italy.
to stop me nagging about it, Burger decided to fork the trip on its own to ride it back to the UK.
here's the plan: Friday, take the plane to Milano, rent a car to Parma (where the bike is), ride it back through the weekend.

here's what REALLY happened so far...

FRIDAY 13/04, 8.30pm, Milano Malpensa Airport
the rental company refused to rent him a car because the card is not 'valid', go figure.  the poor sod then decided to take the train to Parma, as soon as boarded some bugger decided to take possession of his luggage.  in the mean time his phone decided to run out of battery.  i begin to think the lad is not the luckiest person in this world....

police comes to the rescue, at least for once and the bag is safely recovered.  too late at night to go anywhere, he decided to take the first train to Parma the morning after.  i dont go to sleep until 1am, even with a little 'help' from my friend Spliff  '<img'>

SATURDAY 14/04, 5.30am
woken up from a very happy Burger, finally managed to get on the train and on its way to Parma, the sun is up and he had a nice cappuccino and fresh croissant for breakfast, what can go wrong.

the train decided to break down.

9.30am
finally at my mum's, picks up my baby and off he goes.  obviously, forgetting his clear visor at home. DOH!

11.30am
Burger on the phone 'darling, i've been pulled over from the Carabinieri, could you have a word with them'...i wish i could find Lady Fortune and beat her to a bloody pulp.
he forgot my bike's documents at home, so they want to confiscate the vehicle.  agreed for me to fax the documents over, managed to find a stinky internet cafe where the retarded owner took 15min to send 3 pages over.

police tamed, i acknowledged that in order to pull over the Burger they had to resort to the help of the force's helicopter.  i only found out because he called me when it was about to take off, to let me hear the engine's noise!!!   ':crazy'

2.30pm
got a funny phone call from somebody he found at the bottom of the Alps trying to explain that he has no intention to go to Denmark, he's only trying to ask where he is at the moment.  bless.  '<img'>

4.00pm
he's in switzerland.
i wonder if he traded my bike for a mule, he's making fairly good progress...

i'll keep you posted   '<img'>

7.00pm
he's having the time of his life.  he said he fell in love with my bike on the Alps twisties, and he's going to buy me an R1 instead.  WHOHOOO! my plan has worked!!! '<img'>

he said he has found the best roads in the world, no wonder if its not the Alps where else?!?
stayin in st moritz for the night in a 5 star hotel, a reward for having chased, raced and overtaken a ZX10 on the mountain roads, making the poor lad crash in a desperate attempt to keep up with my super bike.  apparently there's no match for a Vtwin on the twisties.
ok, ok, the rider has something to do with it, i admit it '<img'>

wait a minute: a ZX10?
could it be our German friend havin rocketed himself down there to have some fun with his pal, and miserably pushed himself too hard, as sometimes happens '<img'>

better check it out, make sure he's ok.... '<img'>

i leave the tales to him now, thanks for keeping him company you guys, he was well chuffed from your replies.

I did shoot over from Surrey to Bristol at stupid o'clock in the morning when my then g/f had her bike vandalised. They took the indicator lenses and axle bolt off. About 5 minutes down the road the wheel came off and so did she.

But I was young and stupid then. Nowadays I make sure the current one keeps up her membership to the AA.

Thanks for the replies guys, Was nice to see people posting. I have to say this weekend has been a very strange one. Its been the most lonely 1200 miles I have ever ridden, Eating on my own, sleeping on my own and most importantly riding on my own.

I saw some of the most amazing things and met some wonderful people. Its strange when your on your own you tend to take risks and stop and talk to people that you would not usually meet if you were in a group. I stopped for a smoke when I saw a mountain I wanted to ponder over, I rode fast and slow, I did many things.

Reflecting on it now I have to say it is probably the best thing I have done in a long time. No sat nav, just a crappy map and few Euro's.

I was pulled over by a police helicopter, I raced Italian police through towns while they egged me on to wheelie and pass them, I was an inch away from hitting a cow with a bell round its next when I camr out of a swiss hair pin, I met a russian billionaire, I met Caparossi's dad (who rides a BMW by the way ) I saw people sun bathing and I saw people skiing. I was mugged, shot at, Was told that I was american and that I should go back and tell George bush to die lol. I slept rough, I eat shit food and I eat the best meal I have ever had.

I have to say its been an episode of extremes and I would repeat it again and again. I just wish I could have seen it with some of my friends.

Good for you Rich and welcome back.... those kinds of adventures only happen when you're alone because you don't look for them when you're in a group.

When are you gonna go do Mongolia '<img'>
