Jaca or somewhere else?
« on: 25, March, 2007, 04:50:05 PM »
ok, im worried that when we get on our holiday its gonna be colder than scotland.
im not sure how to set up a proper poll but i am interested to find out everyone elses feelings.
For those who went to nurburgring last year you will remember how depressing it is sitting in when its slinging down with rain. I dont fancy skating around in snhow and ice when another 250 miles will see me sunburnt!
take your pick and vote which suits you best

A. stick with the original plan and risk it.

B. push on to madrid and seek roads there.

c head for barcelona, maybe stopping overnight in zaragoza on the way. the lower pyranees are close (no chance of snow and ice)  so is the costa brava, here we can search for authentic spanish restaurants that sell sausages, eggs and chips, day trips to perpignan/valencia then become options. theres even a ferry to mallorca/menorca if you wish to go over

Just rang Edd we both agree that option C would be better.  We will go with the majority obviously but option C does look the better one.  Given the fact that the position is perfect for mountain fun and the weather is Barcelona is touching 20 degrees i think its not a hard choice.  Burgers orignal plan to avoid Jaca is spot on.  I think its not worth staying at Jaca take the deposit loss and move on, we could always visit Jaca on a better day out there.  Asked out of the options which would we go for it would be "C"

uno problemo... my internet at home is down and will be for the foreseeable and I can't get onto the apartment website from work cos of the firewall so I've no way of telling them to cancel the booking and I bet that with only, what?... three days notice they may want the whole cost f the hol. Of course i have no way of checking the terms and conditions cos I can't get onto their website so can someone please have a look for me?

It says under cancellations NO REFUND.  They cant make you pay the whole lot just the deposit we would lose i would imagine.  Ill have another look at the website if i find anything else ill post.

Ok that's good, but let me just say that if we are changing the destination, I'm not organising where we stay. Not because I'm totally selfish but just because I have my dissertation to finish before Tuesday and a pile of work sat in the office waiting for me to come back of holiday. Point me in the direction of where we're going, tell me whether to pack my bikini or not and I'll go. If we still have this last minute faffing tomorrow lunchtime count me out of the whole trip. I'm tired and cross, my toys are all over the pavement so there.

Right, after some thought,

FRO all of ya, I tried to get this sorted last week and no one posted any concerns, In fact I remember you matt saying

"Im going to ride to Jaca then 250 miles etc etc etc"

ITs too late in the day to piss around so we are going to suck wat we got.

I tried to organise a swop last week when we had the time and nothing. We will use Jaca as a base and go from there.

Ok, after searching and searching on the net I have found a decent set of web cams. Im confidant we are gonna have a decent holiday.

There is two sections under web cams, the ones for Andorra and the ones for Northern Spain. Take a look. If the general feeling this afternoon is not good we will change but I think we are gonna be ok!

Good thing about falling in the snow is that snow is soft and nice '<img'> Just think about how hard the roads are when you have no snow to bounce with '<img'>
I'm going to Spain, where in Spain....I don't mind as long as there is a pub and not dirt roads ':p'

I can understand your frustration richard, but it is looking rather grim at our intended destination.

i think im not the only one who is over concerned
we need to know what the cancellation fee is in jaca.
I have found hotels from 35 euros a night HERE
hey, it might work out cheaper to go further south

Ive got to tell you im concerned.  I know Burger we should of discussed this more last week but now we have a more in depth weather forecast and Jaca isnt getting above 6deg.  My orignal plan to counter that was that we have a good base and we can go anywhere but for the sake of 200 miles towards Barcelona average temps are 4 times that.  I dont want to be stuck in.  I want to get up at 6am and have a whole day riding everyday but thats me.  I say we move, ill speak to the hotel and see if we can spend one night there and then move.  I have got time on my hands and ill try and do what i can to change our hotel.  Triggs do you have the tel number of the Hotel.  What im thinking is we can go to Jaca first spend the night there and discuss what we are going to do and we will see first hand the situation.  IFFFFF  the hotel doesnt mind us spending and paying for one night only.  I dont mind losing the deposit but we may not have too.

Listen guys i dont want to upset anyone i want us all to have a good time and im sure our sat navs will find some excellent roads.  Just need some help to re arrange if possible please

1.  Ring Hotel explain our problem

2.  Find location for x amount of people to stay somewhere else.

3.  Where, which one?

Bottom line Edd and myself dont want to spend our shortened holiday in Jaca with the temps as low as they are.

Right thats me unpopular im off to pack!

DM fine if you want to do that - I don't have the phone number but its prob on the original thread right at the beginning, otherwise Tino may have it. See what you can sort out - I'm no fan of cold and I don't mind moving but I'm buried in work and can't do it myself

You know this is going to be impossible to sort out on time.  Maybe get to the hotel and take it from there.  Or at least talk about it on the Ferry.
