Sat nav bike mount
«

I’ve got a new toy. A Tom Tom 700 sat nav. I’ve been looking everywhere (even Tom Tom direct) to see if I can get a mount to fit this on my bike. Apparently Tom Tom reckons this unit is not suitable for bikes as its not waterproof etc, so they don’t make a fitting kit for bikes. I’m sure I’ve seen bikes with this model sat nav attached to them?
Most of the sat navs I’ve seen are mounted on the top yoke, but I’ve got my top mounted steering damper fitted here so I’ll have to put it elsewhere. On the tank maybe?
Has anyone got sat nav that’s come across this problem, or has any suggestions that may help?
I was thinking if all else fails I could always use TLB tried and tested method of gaffer tape and cable ties

lee if you do a search in google uk ,input '' Bike camera Mounts'' and you will link in to sites that do the bike camera mounts and sat nav mounts for your bike for the Tom Tom 700, but i'd advise against it as dont trust the connections between the sat and the mount not ideal for bikes as if it falls off its nackered, bike bumps would fly it off so Tankbag is an option

Lee,
There is a tank mount that fits to the fuel cap, then extends out forward, I think you should be able to bastardise the standard mount onto that from underneither
this sorta thing

I'm using the tomtom rider, hardwired into the bike with an autocom system, also hardwired. Once I get my poxy earplugs I may actually get to try it all out.
'>
Im using a top yoke bolt whole custom mount,
(got it from here)
and then an arm and tomtom ount from
Ram mount uk
.
I've tested this setup and it works really well. I called the guys at RAM mount and they advised me which bits to use. Very good customer service.
I did have a picture but can't find it now.

Wicked riz that s just what I was looking for. Although I’m warming towards a handlebar mounted one now. How’s everyone else got their sat navs mounted on your bikes?

Mines mounted via cable ties through the built ipag holder onto the yoke. Looks neat and tidy. Ill take a pic tomorrow and post.

Handlebar mount on mine. Centre, above tank, can still see the clocks. Anyone use the Helmet earphones that come with it? are they any good. Cant seem to hook them up with phone and Satnav!! They do either, or, but not both. could be a none compatable phone but we'll see.

OK took some pics probably be no use to you at all. When i got this system there wasnt the luxury of tomtom go series at all. This system works well and i have the advantage that it comes off very easily, is wafer thin and doesnt get in the way at all. Another major advantage is i can watch all my downloads from the night before!! LOL

Thats cool DM.
One question, have you wired it direct into the bike battery?
This is my next problem, Although my bike has an ashtray, it’s not got a cigarette lighter… lol

goto HG, think they sell wiring bits, for now u could wire direct to battery, via a fuse, remove fuse to power down.
Just created a new bracket for my ipaq, i took a cd spindle, with a knife i whittled its shaft down so it fits in the hole on my handlebars, trimmed the base to shape of ipaq, noq all i need is some velcro pads and im set, not bad for a last minute creation, does anyone know where i can get a car power adapter for my ipaq, in london, today, this afternoon, nothin like leaving it to the last sec

Yeah its wired directly via a cig lighter holder. Buy them in Maplins and you can plug anything into them. Cost about a fiver. As long as you fuse it. Think i got a 3amp fuse in mine. They cig lighter socket comes with a coiled lead so you got loads of room to do what you like with it.

Yes i had the same problem my lead broke and i was faced with 2 hours of battery life in the middle of London. (Dont know my way round but im getting better) So i popped into PC world and brought a lead which powered my ipaq2210 and bluetooth sat receiver. Bloody expensive though at £40 but did the trick. Try PC WORLD Mr Rizla.
