Dear friends, on Monday 9th of April 2007 at 10:30am, the Ace Cafe once again will organize one of their biggest events of the year, THE SOUTHEND SHAKEDOWN, this ride will be marshalled by the Ace management all the way from Ace Corner to Southend and will meet up with bikers from just about anywhere in UK.

Please note this is a very busy ride, be prepared for a very high numbers of attendees and expect a few bottlenecks in the last mile or so.

Last year I've heard stories of people that spent more time actually accessing the seafront than it took them riding there.

However don't despair, because if you do the ride with me I will take a totally different route, splitting from the Ace group just 2 miles off the A406, proceeding Capt stylee through a series of back roads that will avoid the motorway and the route predesigned by the Ace people and should get us there in time to avoid the majority of the bottlenecks explained above.

If you are doing it with the Ace people and you know the route it is advisable to leave from the Ace 30 min before they all do, as their marshalls will only let out so many bikes at once which can cause more delays. So my idea is to either start at 10am or splitting from them right after the start, whichever way you like.

If you are interested to follow me, please DO NOT park your bikes inside the Ace Car park but try to leave them on the pavement just before the mini-roundabout on the left side of the Ace, or you'll find it difficult to get out.

There you go: You have just witnessed "the art of subliminal male understanding" at work.

Now then, as I've mentioned above, I have 2 choice for all you people coming: 1) we stick with the Ace brigade and we get to Southend much later hot and bothered or 2) we bid them "bon-bouche" and cut into town and join the a13 with a few surprising shortcuts and get to Southend through the opposite way, fresh and ahead of the rest. I have 80% votes in favour of plan 2, hence we should be setting off from outside the Ace car park at 09:30am

I would say, oh boy u are in for a thrill, personally I would be the last person that any sane newbie ought to join on a ride, but then again it would be a sure chance to break ya cherry coming on a ride with I. lol
