Should i race this weekend?
« on: 06, March, 2007, 10:19:44 AM »
I have found out that I have a broken bone in my wrist. This isn't preventing me from riding the bike, but would involve me cutting the cast off for the weekend, risking further damage and then getting the cast put on again on sunday.

Thing is, i'd like to get the experience before my first official ACU race on 14/15 April....but I'll inevitably make the healing process longer in doing so...

Don't be SILLY!!! You have a great year coming up and you are thinking about F/ing it all up for nothing. IMO leave it on and get better for the real racing you have coming up. But it is your choice.
Hope you are making jokes and have a smile on your face my Danish diplomatic friend. Long may your memory live!

well i would cut it off and race but hey dont take notice from someone who breaks their collar bone on a sunday goes to work on a monday and drives to cornwall on a wednesday depends what your pain threshold is and what the doctors say but ask a sports doctor not a a gp cos they will have you not race till nxt year a good sports doc are used to competitive people and get you fit a lot quicker find a good sports injuries clinic

If you decide not to race, can I take your place? ':p'

Your call at the end of the day, this is after all not the series you originally intended to race in.
If you find any spelling mistakes, you can keep them.

Like everyone has said, it’s your choice, but personally I’d keep it on, make sure it heals perfectly then your be good to go from the real season.  You know it makes sense.

S**t!
That sucks!! Is it from the off at Mallory?
I think you should not race, as you got so many ahead and would be better to get fitter and leave it for the next one.......
also that would me i can finish, if I do, one place higher ':p'
Take care

I personally would save it for the real racing. How is your progress? Do you want to win so much you would rather be limp wristed later on in life? Plus if you bugger it up even more that could mean you're unfit for the gixxer cup.

Your choice..

Further damaging your wrist may not just slow down the healing process but possibly stop it from completing.  Play safe.  When God put you on this earth He only gave you one body - and it's got to last your entire life.

What Scorps said...

Gotta be your decision Mikey, don't think I'd risk it, a 9 lap race is far more physically demanding than a 20 minute trackdy session (you'll see what I mean after your first race) it might not hurt now, but it'll hurt like fook afterwards......

p.s
Says the bloke who raced with ribs pointing in the wrong direction and a shoulder so fooked he could hardly move it ':p'  '<img'>

When I was playing at a high level for sport (yes before I was fat and grey '<img'> ) I was never wanting to sit out a game and if I had something wrong I'd take a couple of pain killers or tape up the ankle/s, knee, etc and play. There is a large difference between being a watcher and a player. IMO, after watching your lap times get better on Saturday mate I'm thinking your a player '<img'>

Is it not better to approach it healthy and fit rather than not being 100% and prepared, you have a whole season to improve over not just one race, but we do expect you to win every time '<img'>
