The london bikers at excel?
« on: 11, January, 2007, 10:37:55 AM »
The Ally Pally show has now moved to Excel and they asked the BMF to put on a "Club Village" display of bikes and groups and we have been asked to make a contribution.

Cathy Phillpots (Unity Marshall and BMF organiser) asked

" I was wondering of the London Bikers would like to participate. It would involve setting up on Thursday (25th Jan) and leaving any bikes that are part of the display in the show until Sunday (28th Jan) where they could
only be removed once the show has finished.
I know it is *very* short notice, but it is quite a good opportunity. If you think that any sort of display could be provided - whether of material about the London Bikers and/or the Unity Ride, or of a selection of "show" type bikes (ie customised, good paint jobs, unusual
models etc).

So do we want to get involved and if so what do you think we should be doing to promote our group?

I think we should put Saints and my bike in there. This will show others that we have boats and bikes within the group '<img'>
Stem, I will give a hand on the 25th if you want '<img'>
Hope you are making jokes and have a smile on your face my Danish diplomatic friend. Long may your memory live!

Just a question......

If we do exhibit, what do we hope to achieve?

I am also free to help 25th & 26th (and I get to use up my 2006 annual leave constructively)

i think, we need 1 or 2 bikes (if possible, however its quite understandable that folks dont want to leave theyre bikes...)  i can take the ducati along no problem.  also, a display board with a montage - pictures, listings with organised rideouts/trackdays that are already planned, profiles of a handful of members, unity ride poster (and dvd's, reduced to clear the last lot) and so on.

how much space can the bmf give us? and can we get some free tickets?

So the aims are;

- To promote TLB?

- Sell the remaining Unity Ride DVD's?

- To display some bikes?

Sounds a bit thin on a good reason to me.  Just cause they're gonna give us some space don't mean that we have to take it.

oooh handbags

I think its a great idea. Get some more positive press for us and help us to push the remainder of the Unity DVD's

I think we should stick Mickey's bike up there if he gets it, A rider profile, some of the Nurburg clips of him and trouty's bike up there.

IT will help them get any relavant sponsors and get some press up there.

Do a few more rider profiles Like Christine and her contribution to advanced riding.

Demonstrate a mix of people and abilities, Thats if we want more public eyes looking at the site? I thinks its cool!

dont really matter does it we aint got to pay for the stand and we can have fun if theres a few of us and the prestige of doing the show is good for us it might help with projects we have in the future it makes us look more credible when stem goes asking for big favours of governing bodies like he did with the unity ride

Yep I didn't think of that, good point Scorps ...... I was just thinking about the commercialization that some other sites are doing.

BB, this is more a push for good and not a push for commercialization (IMO). I'm with Burger here and think if Trouty can get the Duc and Mikey can sort the Suzuki then it will be great for the both of them. Also, if we can push the last of the DVD's then we can pass more money to the 7/7 people '<img'>

I'd like to see if there is a chance of all of us meeting there on one of the days to have a beer or tea? It would be a very nice photo and maybe something that could go into the calender?

Am not against it Matt and already offered my services in my first post as I did think it would be a giggle.

I just wanted to make sure that we  didn't just fall into it.  I was trying to be a bit sensible  '<img'> I'll go back to what I know best.....

Reckon as this is the kind of oppertunity that don't come along everyday we need to grab it with both hands '<img'>

Don't think I'll be able to get off work during the week to help but will be around for the weekend days...

Will see if I can't think of any ideas for things to have there  '<img'>
