Thanks - I'm exploring a stopover at a friend of mine's on the Somerset/devon border on the night of 27th. That should make life slightly easier

From M25/M3 junction it is about 200miles.
I would allow 4 hours plus you need to be at ferry port 1 hour before departure, so set off from west London about 6am.
Yea though I ride through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me. My wonderful Ducati.

From Rollo,
Plymouth from London is about 230 miles so allowing 4 hours is about right (although in all likelihood, as it's probably gonna be raining, an extra 30 mins should be allowed for a pit-stop.
Hope you are making jokes and have a smile on your face my Danish diplomatic friend. Long may your memory live!

Jaca is situated in a privileged and prime location: within the Aragonese Pyrenees, 30 kilometres from the French boarder and at a strategic crossroads that since the Middle Ages has been seen by thousands of travellers as a natural passage in the pilgrimage to Santiago or in business transactions.
The territory offers exceptional views and richness in natural resources as well as historic and artistic heritage. The surroundings of Jaca, including the ski resorts, almost entirely preserve the values that have converted the area into one of the primary tourist destinations of the country as well as a small paradise for nature-lovers. The villages still maintain an old-style flavour although tourism has become the new vehicle for development in the area. Places such as Castiello de Jaca, Canfranc, Borau, Villanúa, Biescas, Panticosa, Sallent de Gállego, Hoz de Jaca, Tramacastilla or Escarilla are essential visiting locations; along with many others.
The location of Jaca 2007 pertains to the Autonomous Region of Aragón, one of 17 regions in which the Spanish state is divided. The capital of Aragón is Zaragoza, a city that is located approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Jaca by land. Zaragoza has an airport and the AVE (high-speed train) that connects to Madrid and Barcelona in less than two hours. In 2008 the Aragonese capital will host the International Exhibition (Expo 2008). Pamplona is located an hour from Jaca while the distance of the French city of Pau is approximately an hour and a half away; both have airports and are well connected.
People will forget what you have said and they will forget what you have done--but they will never forget the way you made them feel.

Thats why I chose Jaca, I dont think you will be dissapointed when You turn up. The roads either way out of Jaca are out of this world. We have to ride one that heads East from Jaca its called the 260 Red route from Biescas Le Sue d'Urgell. Been reading the write ups on Alpine Roads and it has been described as the best road in the world (strong quote I know). That was half my deciosn on Jaca, Its right at the start of it '<img'>
