Lee. As an Ex Serviceman, i know you dont' believe any of the shit that you have written. Like you (Deny it of you like). Any Army person should be dealt with fairly. Saddam was dealt with Fairly, but 'exceptions' existed ie 'UK & USA Involvement'.

I feel that although we (the West) got justice by ridding the world of this tyrant, we negated to put on trial the 'Westerners' that allowed this to happen

im not sure i understand where your coming from here,
yes i agree that all servicemen should be treated fairly no matter where they come from, so where does saddam come into the equasion? he might of worn a military uniform but he was hardly a soldier.
if we look deeper into this subject we could delve into the geneva convention and the rules of engagement..now the question is do you allow a hostile force the benefits of the geneva convention when you know that they are not giving it to your captured troops?

My point is not trying to compare him with western leaders because quite clearly i cant. However it is the western leaders that gave him the ability/tools to carry out the invasion of other countries and also the stuff to poison his own people, Surely the 'Providers' of these WMD should also be held accountable at some level.

If i gave someone a gun, knowing it was for the purpose of murder, then am i not as guilty as the murderer?

I have some pretty extreme views on a lot of things but killing people just seems plain wrong to me ...except paedophiles, I would personally like the job of public total genital removal with a blunt stanley knife on those bastards and if they weren't able to stich themselves back up to stop them bleeding to death then so be it

Unfortunately Saddam's end will be viewed by his supporters as murder and martyrdom and they will want to take revenge, which will lead inevitably to more deaths (should have shot and buried him quietly when he was first captured).

The Sunnis and Shi'ites have always been at each others throats and that will never change - civil war will just get worse and I don't think there's owt that can be done to stop it (though of course Tonygeorge Blairbush will deny that there is a civil war, but that's another story). Don't know the answer - damned if we leave, damned if we don't.

The two side of Islam dislike each other a lot. The only reason that they were not fighting in the past as SH ruled by force and I'm sorry to say but with some people in this world force is the only way life can work.

Come on Beemer, I have to agree that some people do act in an unhelpful way to their faith but most follow faith in a peaceful way.

IMO popultation groth and good health is what will kill us all. gone are the days of people looking at 70 and thinking there is little chance of making it. I think by the time my son is 40 the ave person will be living to 90. '>

Hope you're right Matt, it's just I have a very bad feeling about the Middle East/Islam in general - the place is a powder keg.
The fundamentalists don't help the situation by encouraging the slaughter of the infidels (i.e. us). Still, if we survive that, then your scenario is still a bit bleak - this little island is pretty full at the moment and getting fuller with each little increase in the size of the EU. If people don't pop off regularly, then our roads will become full of 90-year-old cagers clogging them up (not me though - I'll be the 90-year-old on a by then very ancient Beemer !'>.

The Middle East...I think we must also look at the fact that Islam (like most faiths) is not one big happy family and there is a very strong divide between the two main sides. I also think that there is always a spin side to a story and I am starting to hate a lot of the reporters in the Middle East now as they only give a one sided view on an issue. A bit like Fox "news". I don't have an issue with any faith as I know of people in my family that have used faith to over come very bad things in life. I was in faith schools until I was 10 and have to say it was the best for education and the likes. I will be sending the young one there as the teachers I had were great.

Now back to SH. I think that if Saddam is the last person ever to be hanged in Iraq then this is great. Maybe an idea for the people in power in Iraq now?

then yes you would be at fault too,
but lets be fair here, weapons are sold, if its not by one nation for £100 its another for £1000
if the buyer promises only to use it for war then thats usually good enough for the seller.
it all boils down to GREED.
i would sell 10,000 rifles at a grand each to anyone who promised me they used to be a boy scout.. same as most folks  i suppose
