I'm with DM on this one.
Mikey. That foul rant was well out of order. (And you know it) Personal attacks should be left for face to face meetings, not web site forums)
I hope we are not going to get the 'Why should the member who lives outside of London be allowed to voice an opinion' remarks.
Anyway. Motorcycle (Definition)
Bicycle or tricycle propelled by an internal combustion engine. The first motor tricycle was built in 1884 in England, and the first gasoline-engine motorcycle was built by Gottlieb Daimler in 1885. Motorcycles were widely used after 1910, especially by the armed forces in World War I. After 1950 a larger, heavier motorcycle was used mainly for touring and sport competitions. The moped, a light, low-speed motor bicycle that can also be pedaled, was developed mainly in Europe, and the sturdier Italian-made motor scooter also became popular for its economy.
Are we saying i shouldn't be allowed to have an 'Aerial 3'

Weaver, please do not think that this is an attack on you. This is just what happens when Paivi reacts to someone saying something she does not like about scooters. This is not the first site it happend on and I know it will not be the last. I have a lot of time for your views Weaver so please don't follow SL/Paivi

I agree but if it's SL's decision to leave then we have to respect that choice.
I don't blame her for wanting to leave, if I joined a forum and got the abuse she has over the last couple of days I'd want to leave as well.
I certainly did'nt see any posts from her that were offensive or abusive to anyone, and nothing that warrented the abuse she recieved from certain members...
Hope you manage to sort things out with her Weaver

Cheers Yeti, I shall certainly try. I feel I have let her down - I spent a lot of time trying to get her to join, assuring her that this forum was unlike a certain other one and members were cool friendly peeps who did not give you abuse. If I can I shall try and get her to come back, because despite recent events I still believe that!
'>
OK maybe she can be a bit blunt sometimes, that's not exactly a sin is it? And considering she is speaking in a language which is not her first language she at least gets the grammar and spelling right which is more than most of us can say!
'> Anyway blunt or not she is not offensive to people and I don't think should have had the abuse she got.
Also - yes I know I am going on a bit - we complain about the way that people paint motorcyclists for instance that idiot CC in North Wales, so how can we object when we do the same thing to scooter riders and someone sticks up for themselves?
She has been a damm good mate to me too when I really needed one too!
OK I'll shut up now!

IMO this is moving away from the point. I don't think it is out of order to say that many scooter riders that I see each day (old and young people/bikes) do act in a way that IMO is wrong. There are many examples that I see each day that I'll not waste me time posting as I know the reply of "large bikes do that" will show the person who replies is not getting the point I'm trying to make.
We would all agree that a scooter is where you get your basics on learning how to ride and by the very nature of it you know there will be many more people doing strange moves on the road. Taking in all this I don't think it is the reason why there was such a strong reply to scooters. IMO the petrol was put on by Paivi and her replies. I could be wrong and if so please correct me
.
My view is that I don't like the sound or sight of a scooter. I'll leave the judgement of the rider until there actions give me reason to make it

I don't agree. You might think that Paivi's replies could have been more tactfully put OK - but think of what it looks like from her side. She joins a forum with some persuasion taking my word for it that there will not be the same sort of s**t there is somewhere else, and one of the first things she sees is people have a fairly vicious rant about scooter riders. Now if you joined a forum and people were saying that about the riders of the bike you ride would you not be a tad put out?
OK having said that - if people thought her replies were a bit strong - how about say things like "chill out lass it wasn't directed at you personally" - but she actually got some quite nasty replies. If you look at her long post in this thread - everyone quoted one line - which OK maybe could have been more tactfully put but let's face it the posts to which she refers
were
rants so it wasn't exactly inaccurate. What got ignored was all the politeness and commonsense in the rest of the post. No wonder she wanted to leave.
When we get new members, shouldn't we be doing our best to make them feel welcome, even if we think they are a bit odd or a bit cheeky or whatever. Instead of saying "who the hell do you think you are?" Should we not be saying "Don't worry the rants are not serious m8, this is a really friendly bunch, have a cuppa, pull up a chair and you'll see, especially when you get to meet us?" We don't know people's backgrounds just as they don't know us and I think we should give them a chance.
OK Mikey will accuse me of trying to be a sheepdog again - which as some of you know is absolutely the last thing I want to be!

can we have a reminder on the joining form that sense of humour is compulsory, and you shouldn't answer a post if you can't see the funny side of it, but report it and ignore it instead? There is a lot of winding up on here, and people can be quite sensitive.
Yesterday a little old lady asked me a question (yes she was little, and old, and I don't care if it sounds patronising) when I answered her "because there's nowhere for them to move, love" she started being very aggressive, and accused me of patronising her. She said she wanted an answer to her question (why aren't the buses going anywhere?) so I replied "Because there's nowhere for them to go MADAM, she was unhappier still. So I told her unless she introduced herself properly and asked proper questions, that I wasn't going to talk to her any more. Some people are so touchy! I always use 'love' when talking to a woman, I guess it's a London thing?!
Oh, and I had a Peugot Speedfight for 2 years, I never wheelied it or raced it, but I learnt a lot of road sense on it

This is all very silly and I have played my part in making her/them whatever feel welcome by actually CONTRIBUTING to the erstwhile scooter forum, whilst Scarlet Lady/Paivi NEVER ever posted in there! Instead she found it more stimulating to involve herself in flaming and airing her own opinion of how everyone was prejudiced and she was a victim blah blah. I mean, she was probably suffering a hangover from whatever she got up to in another forum (I have no idea what went on there) BUT she could have instead chosen to focus on the positives and contribute to the scooter forum!
I did, as did MattP and Burger and MattZX9 and a few others. So why didn't she? It is so easy to say that little ickle Scarlet Lady got boo'd off stage, but she was in the wrong forum baby, and you cannot legislate for someone that is looking for an argument.
She could have chosen to focus on the positives of this forum, which were there, in black and white, for HER benefit (and ultimately we may all have benefitted two from the two-wheeled brother/sisterhood) but instead she chose to sniff out those who would argue with her.
It was her choice and she suffered the consequences. You cannot feel sorry for everyone, particularly when they treat themselves as a victim, so I don't think anyone has to feel bad.
Except MattP for secretly wanting a sccoter.

Uh oh
Errr does all this mean I have to go back to Thailand and take the sticker off of my TLB scooter?
In my defence I was on holiday and I think the sunshine went to my head
Plus I don't think that a Barbie pink scooter can be considered as a serious dabble on the 'dark side'
