Right,
Its time organise the Annual Burger Trip. (lots of woman and beer with burgers and motorcycle stupidity).
The plan is to get the overnight ferry to spain (drinking and sleeping) and then ride to the foot of the mountains where we can either set up in one B+B for the duration (5-7 days) or book 5-7 places and treck to each of them.
I would not mind seeing some spansih twisty roads, maybe a track day in the middle and all the lads and lasses avin a laf.
This was something we all disscussed in Germany and Triggs jogged my memory last night and she is gettin us geed up.
So come on, show me some interest!!
I know the following people showed interest so please start a new list with people who want to go and Ill come back with another info pack to you. You know I will BUGG YA if ya dont!?

Hey Rich, when you look at the ferry prices to spain you'll see just how expensive it is even for bikes (I went a few years back) It was easier (and cheaper) to just ride there, i'll have a look on the ferry site.

It would help if you could say if your planning to go this year or next? As for me it's not a case of really wanting to go and then letting other stuff get in the way.
For a long time my personal goal has been to ride to Spain next year.....most of you already know its the whole reason I started out.
My problem is feeling like
A) I ain't gonna be able to keep up
B) I'll be holding everyone up
C) I've not enough experience - I need to outgrow the Bandit I adore first
So in the first instance I won't put my name down, however I do offer my assistance in the organisation and research / planning.
This is one trip I'd love to be a part of one way or another

Hey listen, I ride like I've got square wheels in comparison to this lot, but it worked out so sweetly it hurt over to Germany. Fast ones went ahead (see you for a fag at the next fuel stop) medium ones took in the scenery - its a group holiday its not about losing your eyeballs in the back of your head, its about enjoying each other's company. I had a cracking time and I would repeat it again in the blink of an eye. In fact hell that's just what I'm gonna do. Perhaps not so much gin this time though...
So just say what the hell and get on with it. You're a long time dead.

Ok, Looks like Dread is right. We are looking at £350 for the ferry from Portsmouth To Bilboa. It might be better to get the Le-shuttle to France and treck down. But you have to think about the miles. Thats one tyre £180, one service £90.00 and fuel Average of 700 miles. I bet its about the the same as getting the ferry. In addition to that we have to have hotels/B+B's booked for the journey down.
The plan is to stay in Zaragoza or near and get a track day in at Cataluna. We are then at the foot of the pyranees (whatever spelling) for awesome riding.
Feedback guys and gals. What would you be interested in?

ok, im def up for this as it is a long time away, i agree that although it looks like we would save money riding, in the long run it could cost just as much, burger has obviousley thought this through and although im easy eithr way (i know i know, jokes galore) i would rather do the ferry idea as at least you do get a bit of relaxation (plus ive never been on a boat that wasnt on the thames)

Can't say for sure if I will be able to make this trip yet.
It will cost at least £300 to go by road, thats taking into account fuel, toll roads and overnight stay but not tyres, service or short ferry crossing.
There is also a ferry from Plymouth to Santander that takes 18 hours and cost £140 return if you just have a reclining chair. If 4 people share a cabin it shouldnt cost much more. A lot cheaper than the Portsmouth to Bilbao route.

Gotta say I'd rather get the ferry - the Santander one looks a go-er but I wonder if there's one that goes from Southampton or Portmouth - Plymouth is a bit of a trek and we'd end up paying to stay overnight somewhere I predict. If we avoid bank holiday weekend, which was the original plan, it may end up cheaper still.
Oooo was that a flutter of excitement I just felt?

You've made quite a hasty assumption here mate that is out of order. Since you want to wash dirty linen in a public forum I think that your dad is a nice bloke with whom I share a difference of opinion. We hammered things out using the PM tool and I am satisfied that it was left on good terms, so no, it isn't because of your dad.
I just have other plans for 2006 so don't be offended that I don't want to join your gang for this one
but having biked to that part of the world before, would be happy to share routes, accomodation etc. I have most of the routes on Autoroute as I charted them a couple of years back.

Mikey - I don't think Burger's comments were meant maliciously I think he was just keen to get the 'old' crowd together again. If you've done the region before have you got loads of maps and stuff that we can gen up on in the planning stages? Info on accommodation would be good also, lest we end up in a flea-pit...

I do love the posts that have things like "wash your dirty linen..."
'> For me the trip was great and because of that I'm thinking of going again. I love learning about people and the Germany trip was great for that. The most important thing I found was that when Dread says he knows of somewhere good to go for the day then follow him
'> The thing about going on these trips is that it's all about difference and how that comes together.
Burger, I'm in on this and it could be the first ride for the "dream bike" I hope to be getting

im totally up for this - and im sure simone will be to riding pilion -
which means, i will be riding at pace that simone will be comfortable with - so anyone not sure about keeping up, don't worry as I will be in the slow lane anyway!
after our trip to france I would be definitely prefer to get the ferry to spain. No questions about good weather or the long ride just to get to the destination. Besides, if we get the ferry we can drink that evening and start the holiday all relaxed!!
for ease of organising rich - you maybe better off just basing ourselves at one B&B for the duration - but im not to fussed about it.
stick ma name down!

Mikey Im sorry if you did not like my comments. It would be a shame to not have you on board. You are a good bloke who can ride. You also had alot of input into the Germany trip which was very usefull. If you change your mind I would love to ride a circuit with you again even if you do slow down for me
