Drei, On these ride outs the answer will ALLWAYS be leathers,

The guys on this ride in particular are all experianced riders, and the pace will be very hot, I know your keen to get out there but you may find yourself trying too hard to keep with the pace and put yourself or others in danger.

There are a few newbies who haven't riden in groups now on the site, I've only done a couple myself, so maybe we could get a couple of experianced riders to take us out at a more manageable pace, (and that won't be slow)   '<img'>   to get us a bit more experianced in rideing in a group, because it is different to rideing alone belive me.

I've learned that when rideing a bike, there's always more to learn..   '<img'>

Oh!!!  and it's the Ace cafe, north circular road, Wembly.

Westie mate you are right then, guess I will wait for a newbie group. Let me know if you will do something like this soon. Might still sign up for the France trip.

Frankly I never used my leathers... due to rain before and warm weather been using summer clothes or waterproofs.

Depends on pace I could keep up but I rather have a trial run and get used to it, plus learn a few tricks from the pros.

You guys have fun, if no one does anything more relaxed in the next month I will see you on Ali's tribute run, guess the 2nd group will be just right for me.

Sorry to sound stupid... I should edit that leather question '<img'>

No probs Drei, by the way it's better to ask if your not sure, it would have been more "stupid" to turn up in the wrong gear, try to hard, and end up hurt, than to ask the question you did.

The France trip will be fine for you, as there's a good sized group, and you will end up rideing with people who want to go at the same pace as you.

Theres just a few golden rules to riding in a group which most people, even 'experienced' riders don't always seem to take on board. They don't especially detract from the fun of it but simply ensure that everyone stays as safe as they can.

It's all pretty straightforward and common-sense stuff but it really relies on everyone in the group being on the same page in attitude. This can be tricky if you lack confidence and/or experience and don't feel you want to start 'laying the law down' or your riding with people who consider themselves to be so 'experienced' that they feel they are beyond needing to follow any sort of rules whatsoever....

Never be afraid to ask questions or speak up if you have a problem, anyone who would give you grief for it is not worth riding with, imho ':p'

Ideally I feel it needs at least a couple of experienced riders to head and tail the group so if anyone fancies joining me I'd be more than happy to come out for a ride with any less-experienced riders, regardless of bike size, and pass on my pearls of wisdom ! '<img'>

Sorry to high jack your thread Eddie & DM.

But John that sounds great, maybe Yeti could be our tailgunner and Grandma, Flying Scott or Scorps (Doh! don't start putting names down, someone always gets upset) could come along to advise as well???

Rule one of group ruiding anf the only rule in my book:

Ride for yourself and yourself alone. Be aware of others around you but get there in one peice. I remember going for an afternoon ride with Edd and Danger mouse in Germany, Im confident of my riding, I know Im quick and I know I can get home, But I was tired and forgot that I was riding with quicker and more experienced riders, I started to push myself and started to make mistakes!

Lets start  thread in General for Newbie group riding and group riding tit bits!

Yes, thats a classic problem, like I said its all about being on the same page. Personally I'm quite prepared to temper my fun for the sake of someone else not feeling left out or pushing themself too hard, though I can appreciate that some riders are not prepared to do this, each to their own after all '<img'>

To me it hardly seems worth riding in a group if its not possible for everyone to be having a good time. I guess with experience comes the ability to know how you'll fit in with a group so you can choose your riding buddies accordingly and the sense to know when your getting out of your depth !

Good idea about the thread  '<img'>

Noted Colin  '<img'>   and Grandma's working on the 9th,  '<img'>
We have such a wealth of good experienced riders here, that people like me can't help but learn a bit more each ride.
But this one is for them to have a play..   stay safe guys.

OK guys I can meet anyone who wants to come for a full day out at the Ace.  Ive read all the thread and john and Burger have a good point.
We will be riding at a quick-fast pace.  Ive been riding with Edd for coming up to 10 years on Litre bikes so we know each other very well.  I know Burger, Mikey and Rollo are good riders to name a few and would be more than up for this pace.
Anyway Edd and I were overtaken by a ford Mondeo on my 4th lap round the Nurburgring but i seem to be able to ride the roads quicker than Nurburg because of roadcraft.  Nurburg has lots of blind bends and cresents which you allow for on the road.

Anyway guys if you want to come start sticking your name down and let me know.  I can be at the Ace for 5am.  Leave no later than 5.15am.

Chris
