Weekend in the scottish highlands
« on: 15, April, 2006, 12:46:37 PM »
I am planning to go up to Scotland again this year and stay at the same B&B as last year in Crianlarich as it is opposite a pub which does lovely grub.
The B&B is biker friendly and has four rooms en suite, doubles and twins and I am waiting to hear from John how many he can fit in and what combinations. It is £26-£30 per night with huge breakfast and John did me a special rate last year for three nights while I did the Scottish National Rally and didn't mind me creeping in at 3am Sunday when I had finished '<img'>
It will mean a bit of hard riding on the Friday and Monday starting at 8am from Thurrock services, fuel stops every 100 miles with lunch at Scotch Corner to arrive at 6pm ish covering 500 miles. The weather wasn't too good on the Friday last year, so we may make better time, speed camera's on the A68 permitting.
This will leave two glorious days for exploring the Highlands at what is arguably the best time of year. I have been up twice on the R1 and once right up to Tain on the R6 and found the roads out of this world enjoying good weather in the main.
So if you fancy a go at this, you know you want to enjoy scenery like this, let me know.
I can put up a few for overnight stops Thursday before or Monday night. (Book the time off now Tallguy)

Received a reply from John, not sure if it is the same John at Soton, but really lovely guy with a great Family.
Here is reply:
"we have some bookings for that time but can accommodate up to 9 people
max in the following rooms
1 a room with private bathroom in the room is a double bed and a single
bed ( 3 people)
2 a twin room with ensuite bathroom ( 2 people)
3 our cottage sleeps 4 in a double room and a bunk bedded room ( 4
people)

if you took this option for the three nights we would offer it as a
package cost of £550.00 it would normally be £594.00 but will offer
discount for group and long stay

if numbers are less then we shall adjust accordingly

many thanks for now"

I don't mind sharing a twin as I did last year on West Country weekend
'<img'>  The £550 would be for nine peeps, i.e. just over £20 per night, not sure quite how he arrived at that figure!!

Sorry all slight change of plan, as Colin (Tallguy) would prefer weekend of 15th, 16th, 17th & 18th as original weekend is also Assen WSB and a friends birthday.
Yeti and I can change,
does this make a difference for anyone else?
B & B can accomodate as follows:
"Hi for the following week we have two double ensuite and a twin ensuite for the three nights 15/16/17 sept plus the cottage
total sleeping 10

I will hold both weekends for you for a few weeks till you sort out your
dates and numbers

john christie"

I am sending a deposit to secure booking, if necessary I will put a vote on board.

Christine,

It just so happens that I have been ordered to take 2 weeks off by my boss. Would you more mature members like a teenage follower who will behave, will not womanise and will keep both wheels on the ground?  ''
